I saw these beautifully patterned blossoms at the botanical garden. Taking notes of the name tags is something I still have to learn... I have no idea what plant this is 😅

Thanks to the Flickr Team for including my picture in today's Explore takeover - such a nice idea! 🙌

Macro Mondays. Unusual Patterns

Beautiful patterning created by the tide and waves in a sloping area of the beach sand at Clam Harbour Beach. This is a vertical version of the same photo posted earlier.

I do like patterns and shapes and I think this shot has a few,a diagonal a V, curves, patterns on the hillside and shapes in the clouds, yes a lot going on but all this caught my eye, I think that is Upper Beeding in the distance.

Initial edits in View NX2, further adjustments to sharpness, tone mapping and contrast in Corel Paintshop. A bit unnatural result, but I was more interested in the patterns and big picture than in fidelity to tones and contrast.

I enjoy looking down while at the beach. Some patterns are caused by winds and these by water, making patterns by its effects on different densities (and shades) of sand. I find the organic lines mesmerizing.

"All around us, we see a great diversity of living things, from the microscopic to the gigantic, from the simple to the complex, from bright colors to dull ones. One of the most intriguing things we see in nature is patterns. We tend to think of patterns as sequences or designs that are orderly and that repeat. But we can also think of patterns as anything that is not random.

For example, we recognize the spots on a giraffe as a pattern, but they're not regular, nor are any of the spots the same size or shape. However, other patterns are orderly as is seen in the symmetry of a sea star or a snowflake."

Te Kuiti NZ - Not being able to get out still so archives are delved into. This is from last year when we traveled south for a close friend's funeral. The rock formations are wonderful. This is LOTR territory! The rock is called greywacke and is mined for roads.

Another very brief taste of winter, but some interesting photo ops
