Monzogranite Rock is formed when molten liquid, heated by the continuous movement of Earth's crust, seeps upward and cools while still below the surface. This plutonic intrusion yields a granitic rock called monzogranite. Monzogranite is often distinguished by rectangular joints.

Water running to the sea carves patterns in the sand at Seilebost beach

Besides "classic" landscape photography, I am drawn to details in the landscape. Sand patterns and their interaction with water are a world of their own that I never tire of photographing.

Thanks for your comments, awards and faves. They are much appreciated.

The platform indicator does a great job of describing both service and operator as BREL-built class 320, unit 320416, draws in to Paisley Gilmour Street station with a train to Gourock. If splitting hairs though the use of the past tense is questionable.

The Victorian architecture here is fabulous which the bright sunny day showing it off perfectly, even if there was a bit of a bracing wind coming off the coast.

For the record, the train is Scotrail's 2.25pm ex-Glasgow Central (1G49).

The combination of blowing snow and sand created some interesting patterns on the beach. Even with the difference in color, the two merge together so well that it's hard to tell which is which until you step on it - and your foot sinks into the snow. With this image, I was experimenting with light and shadow in the patterns.

Those mounds in the distance are shore ice created by waves pushing water up through holes in the ice - creating mini volcanos on the surface. If you're walking on top and fall into one, it can be impossible to get out on your own.

Tiny leaf from a Katsura tree. Yes, we planted it when we moved here before questioning if native. But it does absorb air pollutants, perhaps. And the tree nursery sold and planted it along with many native cedars and sequoias.

Just one more to add to my theme for the week Patterns Zebra at Port Lympne Wildlife Reserve, Kent, UK. Nature at it's Best.

“The patterns we perceive are determined by the stories we want to believe.” - John Vernon

The last few days have been cold enough to produce a show of frosty fringes along the river where we sometimes walk. This particular pattern really caught my eye. I haven't discovered the "story" it tells but I do love the pattern. Maybe sometimes it is just an appreciation of something rather than an interpretation.

Presented is a miniature zinnia. Total diameter of the flower was 1.5 inches.

A long exposure at the beach yesterday evening. No Neowise, but a nice sunset. The patterns in the sand are always fascinating. Have a nice Wednesday!
