vintage embrodiery transfer from the 60s. I hand traced it (forgive the wobbly bits) from a very brittle and old sheet of transfers that my mother had from her childhood.
this will be printed on envelopes - available in my shop in a couple of weeks. The green background won't be as flashy and bright though! :-)

I had a bloodstain pattern analysis lab session today and was able to bring home one of the tests we did. What you're looking at is drops of horse blood on a rough surface (in this case sandpaper) dropped from the height of a metre. The point of this was to demonstrate how the shape and size of blood drops changes depending on the characteristics of the surface they land on.

There were some nice patterns to be spotted in the sand at Dinas Dinlle a couple of nights ago. A little harder to photograph than expected but I was pleased with this one :)
I got my pattern finished and published! I hope you will check it out.

Three pages from the book Classical Ornaments of Japan. Tangles from hundreds of years ago :)
On the left is a pattern I'm sure I've seen already as a tangle. It's the same principle as in Trimonds, but arranged as a star. Love the stylisation of fir trees on the right (top bit). The bit on the right side below is very much like the tangle Bales (on green background).
St. Francis was originally built in the late 1870s and was renovated and restored to its original condition in 2009-2010. Restoration was extensive and the church probably looks cleaner and better lit today than it ever did.
The organ was moved during restoration from the back of the nave to niches in the transept arms near the altar. These big pipes hide a new mechanical room where the organ used to be. The trumpet pipes are new and play.
Detail of a kiosk roof in Copley Square. Taken for pattern study during June 2007 Boston Miksang Level 1 class. I debated how much of the curve of the roof I could show without giving the trees in the background visual prominence. Hopefully the pattern is strong enough to draw you back there, because that's what the perception was about.
