My first time seeing one of these. easy to catch,didn't even try to escape,but got very pissy once I did catch it and stuck at me several times. All bluff,they are harmless.
Western Patch-nosed Snake, Mohave Patch-nosed Snake subspecies (Salvadora hexalepis mojavensis) from Kern County, California. Detail of dorsal scales and striping. Note the orange on the leading edge of the lateral scales where the skin is stretched.
These Creosote flats in Kern County, California are home to the Mohave Desert Tortoise and the Mohave Patch-nosed Snake.
