Definitely Dreaming - Week 4 Forks
When my Aunt married in 1951, she was given a canteen of cutlery. The ordinary knives and forks were well used, but I don't think she ever used the pastry forks (or the fish cutlery), as they still look as good as new. I've had them since she died in 1992, and I don't think I've use them either.
5x7 Oil on Canvas portrait of an old friend and mentor and honestly one of the finest pastry chefs alive. Inspired by a personal photograph.
Coming back from an appointment recently, I decided to stop for some lunch in the Greek Artisan Pastry cafe. They have a small outlet down in Portobello (Edinburgh's seafront area) that I used to enjoy going to when I worked down there, so I paid a visit to their larger cafe in the city centre. Excellent range of savoury and sweet pastries, very happy and satisfied tummy afterwards!
Completely forgot the name of the pastry we ordered at Julius Meinl, although it was quite delicious. Normally I don't order pastries because of how exccesively sweet they tend to be however this was not the case

wooden vintage pastry cutter my Father made for my Mother in their early days of marriage. My Father loves pie and this wooden cutter that he crafted in 1953 was used to make the lattice work on the top of my Mother's pies. These days I use this apple cutter to cut out the pattern on the top of my apple pies.

Week No. 14: Food photography with backgrounds
Over the last 2 years of pandemic, I've regularly shot images of the food I've made, particularly cakes and sweet things. If you scroll back through my instagram the Norfolk journal, which was daily for over a year, you'll see food pop up fairly often.
However this week I wasn't going to have time to bake something for the challenge, so I popped to our favourite bakery and bought some tasty pastries.
My backgrounds here are a wooden chopping board and well used baking tray with this marbled texture on from years of use.
I post most frequently to Instagram so there are more photos there.
