I forget the name of the two women -- that is, their stage name. But their act involved having their pigtails tied together and it didn't go over well. That is to say, they didn't even win a runner-up position. Oh, well, maybe next year.
Shorty after pulling out the Port Terminal Railroad Authority's yard in Pasadena, the train passes some of the many warning signs that dot the landscape around the refineries of east Houston.

Ma The Band must be the house band for the Old Towne Pub, located in the Old Town part of Pasadena. This was the beginning of the 2024 Doo Dah Queen Tryouts, the photos and video frame grabs I shall post later on, a few at a time.
This was taken with my ultra-wide lens on my Samsung smartphone. I shot video mostly on my Canon EOS, but I took the time to get some stills with my phone. I wanted to try some shots that recalled the style of 1960s album covers and '60s rock and roll photos. It used to be quite a thing to see in those days, but once everyone else got their hands on extremely wide lenses for rock and roll photos the novelty wore off quickly. But I thought I'd give it a brief revival, as I was too young to take advantage of photographing rock bands back then.
Shortly after my arrival at the Old Towne Pub in the Old Town part of Pasadena I got stills of the band and their soundboard guy setting their instruments up, ready to have a sound check. I used the ultra-wide lens on my Samsung so I could make the room look a little bigger than it really was. Outside the window behind the lead singer is the private courtyard, where people could go and get some air and still hear the music clearly.
This was all for the 2024 Doo Dah Queen Tryouts, held on October 27.
