'La antropología es movimiento' fue un proyecto comisionado por la Universidad Icesi (Cali, Colombia) para publicitar su programa de Antropología, usando una serie de máquinas autómatas.

 

La idea surgió de pensar que esta disciplina genera conocimiento a partir de la itinerancia entre el trabajo de campo y la reflexión teórica. Entonces, conceptualizamos, diseñamos y produjimos una serie de máquinas autómatas donde, a través del movimiento, se generaban experiencias de recordación de lo que significa estudiar las diversas realidades sociales y culturales.

 

Esta es la máquina 3. La antropología es: comunicación, tradición, sociedad, sentidos, etnografía y cultura. La antropología es movimiento.

La Universidad Icesi tenía un problema: ¿cómo hacerle publicidad a su programa de Antropología sin tener que recurrir a los medios tradicionales? Nuestra respuesta: construyamos una serie de taumátropos que generen inquietudes e inviten a pensar diferente sobre lo que es 'antropología'.

 

En la máquina 5 queremos explorar las ideas de antropología visual, documental etnográfico, etnoficción. Con esto invitamos a pensar en el sentido de la representación visual dentro del análisis antropológico.

Commissioned by Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Prism Arts Studio Arts group are currently working on a project inspired by China. The project will culminate with an installation at the Museum to coincide with the opening of the museum's China exhibition in February 2018.
