Shot back in later 2011 in Vernon BC

Sunlight filled the scenery after a warm summer rain. The smell of summertime fullfilled the air at this day. Memories of my childhood flashed through my mind. A wonderful moment to reminisce about days gone by.

The power, ingenuity, and sheer beauty found in nature has always fascinated mankind. When we look at powerful ocean waves rolling in, we cannot help but feel small and powerless in comparison. Mighty trees in a vast forest inspire feelings of insignificance and awe. Animal mothers taking care of their young make us question the cruelty with which we sometimes treat one another. The truth is, nature can teach us many valuable lessons. It can also lead us to wonder, did this beautiful earth with all of its natural treasures come about by chance or was it created?

The pond at Huizenga Park is frozen over. The waterfowl are gone but the sunrise reflecting off the ice is lovely.

Autumn, also known as Fall in American English and Canadian English, is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere). Autumn is the season when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the striking change in colour for the leaves of deciduous trees as they prepare to shed.

Benched For The Winter...

The walk through Ken Whillams Conservation Area a few days ago gave opportunity to capture quite a few wonderful images.

A stack of park benches sidelined for the season, covered in crisp white snow, biding their time hoping for spring to arrive.

These benches have been host to many groups of people having fun doing things that distract them from the myriad of burdens of daily life.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

A bit misty as the sun with the help of this park bench produces this natural work of art that costs not a penny!

This tender fragile leaf stays as an synonym for Fragility. Not just in nature we often see something or someone that becomes very fragile to us!

Fragile refers to something or someone that is fragile and delicate. Fragile comes from the Latin fragilis, fragile. A glass can be very fragile, that is, very thin, easily broken. The psyche and constitution can also be very fragile, someone recovering after a grief, a disappointment, a mental crisis or a mental illness will be quite fragile for a while. For this reason, we should be considerate of people who are fragile, delicate and tender, because these qualities make a person a compassionate, humane and valuable fellow human being.

For those who like to enjoy the snow.

I first discovered and photographed this bench about three years ago. I thought it was so charming a bench and I could not wait to see it in summer too. But when summer came, it was a great disappointment. There was graffiti and bird poop all over it. :-/

This is a look back to those halcyon days of early December when you could actually sit on a bench. Though there was a bit of snow on the ground, the benches were snow free.

I've taken so many pictures of this park bench in the last few months, though this is the first shot I have uploaded. Every time I go to this park I take at least one shot. It is different from all the other benches, having a kind of old fashioned feel to it, not like the plastic-feeling new ones. It sits on its own rakish angle quite unlike the new ones which are laid out precisely parallel to pathways. It has character.

Beginnings Salon and Day Spa - Hartville, Ohio - Stark County

The last few days it has been overcast, windy and cold compared to the 70's we experienced last week, which was an early treat for us. I thought I'd take a chance and see if I couldn't try and wait out some sun by one of my favorite spots and see what I could catch...a bit of color and a little light, but something's gotta give--even though you can see the green of the grass coming through already. Spring temps are overdue and we're all chomping at the bit!

I just had to include the colour version of the previous shot. If the black and white image reveals so much of the textures in this shot, the autumn colours here are lovely and warming to the soul. Just like a good book would be sitting on that lovely park bench.

A lone sundown walker.

I titled this sundown image, 'Stranger Danger'......when in all actuality, there were likely no threats at all.

This person may have had a dog on lead.

I especially like how parts of this lone stranger seem to be missing from the image. The light reflections on the bench seat and the top of the backrest, give the illusion that he is partially invisible.
