The Place des Vosges (formerly Place Royale) was Paris's first planned residential square, built 1605-1612 to the designs of Baptiste du Cerceau for Henri IV.

Looking across the Seine from Pont Louis-Philippe towards the north west corner of the Ile Saint-Louis and Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cite.

A strange juxtaposition. In fact the "Chinese" building is a C20 conversion of a C19 "belle époque" house.

Paris France

Around the edge of the Place des Vosges is an avenue of pleached limes whilst in the centre are limes which have been allowed to grow to their full height. A lovely contrast.
