Two islands of original Canadian National, perhaps even Canadian Northern, wooden poles align the CN Sprague Subdivision in Minnesota. I can't speak for the Manitoba portion or even the Ontario portion on the Fort Frances Subdivision. Here at Williams is one of the pole islands that still surrounds the last set of searchlight signals on the west end of Williams siding. I try to incorporate them into a scene whenever I am up along the Sprague. Never take anything for granted - they might be gone the next time I show up!

Art Week Gallery Theme ~ Gothic And Dark Myst
The stream follows the flow of water coming down from the alpine lakes and glaciers, the farm road accompanies the path of the shepherd and the herd of cows to the pastures and back to the valley, after the summer at high altitude in the fresh air.
Natural water paths alongside man-made paths, the cows will return to the barn with the shepherd, and we men will finish our happy days back to the cities .... two parallel journeys, with many similarities that make us think and reflect.
Cammini paralleli

I was taken with how the smaller foreground ridge line followed the shape of the much larger snowy mountains behind!

A photo taken from the rear window of a train of JR East Oo'ito Line bound for Matsumoto.
Oo'ito Line is a single track railway line laid out in parallel to Kita Alps. Hence, views from its train windows are worth a ride.
Major peaks of Kita Alps such as Kashima-yari, Goryuu and Hakuba mountains are seen behind rice paddies and settlements.
Please note that Japanese railway lines adopt a narrow gauge of 1067 mm (3ft2in) except for the Shinkansen high-speed railways.
