I have given up on my waterlily/lotus experiment. (I was going to use these pots.) I had to move the bowl with sprouting seeds outside because even with changing the water daily they/the water smelled so rancid I couldn’t stand it. The seeds sprouted and would get leaves but they never unfurled & would turn brown/yellow or break off. Next time I will buy the rhizomes.

Making some adjustments to darken the background, it struck me that this papyrus plant is mimicking a fireworks display!
