"""""""" WHO AM I ????? I would really like to know that!!

So sorry, that I immediately barged in with a serious philosophical issue……

But yesterday I was just an ordinary square piece of paper, cozy on a pile with my family and friends.

Suddenly I had to do all kinds of stretching exercises to get into this shape and I really don't know what will happen next…….. missing my friends……feeling quite stressed……. Hopefully time will reveal it soon! """""""

Update: folding one unit (not quite ready though) of the origami model Roses and Thorns, opus 754

Wishing you all a nice day, despite the weather conditions, much rain here…...

When I first saw this model, without knowing how it was called , I thought it was a kind of angel or a little bat. The designer, Paul Frasco, calls it "Little Devil". I think a nice name would also be "Bat-devil" ;-)).

Because I thought it could be an angel, it reminded me of the song of Elvis Presley "Devil in disguise".

Anyway, I hope you like it too and it will find a nice place in our Christmas tree ;-))

One of my favourite ones. It collapses nicely, it's rather flexible and... I can't stop watching the curves :)

It's iso-surface.

My first attempt to book folding ...

Arisawa Yuga created this lovely origami Santa Crane.

The crane (Tsuru) is a symbol of long-life as Japanese folkore believes the crane can live for 1000 years. The crane is also a symbol for happiness, friendship, good luck and peace.

Folded from 30x30cm kamipaper.

Stage two. It is like magic, by altering a few folds and you get a different form.

You can see stage 1 "Blueprint" here.

And the finished model "Golden" here.

Folded from bible paper, hexagon about 23cm, grid 1:48.

When I visited my dear friend Katharina, I discovered this flower and that's why this tessellation carries her name : "Kathy's flower" ;-)) The flowers are 3D, they rise out of the paper, so to speak.

The first folding steps also gave a nice result.

For Macro Mondays theme "Corner" ... origami has many corners, creases, and folds.

An alternative, more standard paper crane shot is in the comments. I liked the negative space in this one.

This is one of the last meeting-points where origami Santa's gather together and discuss about the world of "Humans" and how they maybe can change it.

A foldable kusudama-fire keeps them warm.

Did you know that Santa's don't need any sleep at all? I didn't ;-)

***Artist trading cards (or ATCs) are miniature works of art about the same size as modern trading cards baseball cards, or 2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches (64 mm × 89 mm), small enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets.

The ATC movement developed out of the mail art movement and has its origins in Switzerland.

Cards are produced in various media, including dry media (pencils, pens, markers, etc.), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc.), paper media (in the form of collage, papercuts, found objects, etc.) or even metals or fiber.

The cards are usually traded or exchanged. When sold, they are usually referred to as art card editions and originals (ACEOs).(Wikipedia)

Opus T-19.

I met Michał Kosmulski at het German Origami Convention and not so long ago he created the "Double Spearhead Tessellation" and I finally found some time to fold it too! (first row, left photo).

I like the backlight versions of this tessellation very much, because you can see so many patterns each time you focus differently. That why I rotated it too, gives a different feel. (first row, right photo).

In the second row you see my variation of this tessellation, called "Neptune scales" . Big thanks to Marguerite-Helene ;-))

Here you can see the beginning: "Blocks"

Both tessellation folded from 20x20cm, glassine, grid 1:24.

Fold a single sheet of paper, and you get lots of wonderful edges.

Пусть жизнь будет яркой и радостной!

The angles are 36˚, so this model is a real 'small stellated dodecahedron' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_stellated_dodecahedron

slightly other (bit stronger) assembly mechanisms are possible for this unit, but they eliminate the color change at the peaks.

Sometimes there's the mood for something very easy...

I really like this design because of the versatility with the tail. Not sure I've done it justice yet but am having fun working on it.

I had to fold "Kathy flower" again, as our cat destroyed it, perhaps she didn't like the paper, I don't know.

Anyway, folding it again, I thought why not play with the size of the flower and sees what happens with the pattern. So I did and here is the result. These are still the first folding steps, like "Circles".

I hope I can finish them today ;-))

All folded from bible paper, the hexagon about 33 cm, grid 1:64. I photographed them from the same distance and put them all in one photo, so you can see its growth and the differences.

Upper row is the frontside, lower row the backside or the other way around.

A path of hexagons and triangles ;-)) Folding a new tessellation.

"I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it."

Quote - Rosalia de Castro

I started to fold the "Face_pattern" with elephant hide, just for an experiment to see how it would look like with this paper. To my surprise it didn't stay flat, but started to curl and in the middle a bowl arose (photo left).

I stopped folding and only made a few, already existing, creases stronger on the back (right photo), so it would maintain it's new shape even more.

latest versions of my OA cards are now available to buy :)

A wonderful origami model: "Kappa Mask" by Toyoaki Kawai.

Information -WiKi:

"""The "Kappa" is said to be roughly humanoid in form and about the size of a child, inhabiting the ponds and rivers of Japan.

It is typically greenish in color (or yellow-blue, and either scalyor slimy skinned, with webbed hands and feet, and a turtle-like carapace on its back.

One peculiar trait is that it has a cavity on its head called a sara ("dish", "bowl", or "plate") that retains water or some sort of liquid, which is regarded as the source of the kappa's power or life force.

This cavity must be full whenever a kappa is away from the water; if it ever dries out, or if its water is spilled, kappa loses its power and may even die.

The kappa are sometimes said to smell like fish, and they can swim like them.

According to some accounts, its arms are connected to each other through the torso and can slide from one side to the other.[11] While they are primarily water creatures, they do on occasion venture onto land. When they do, the "dish" on their head can be covered with a metal cap for protection.

A hairy kappa is called a hyōsube."""

These are very simple flowers folded from pentagons and dedicated to Archana, the folding mathematician from India whom I know only from internet... :)

I tried to search if such flower was already created, and I really found some similarly looking models but all were different in some details. But I know, there could easily be the very same model already existing. What I like about those is paper effectivity - with the starting size of pentagon fitting into 5 cm square, the flower fits into square a bit bigger than 3 cm (size of its side). I like also back side of the model, I will try to show you the photo in the comment. And that it could be very easily attached to the stem. These on the picture are not glued to the green part, but they hold really well.

I made a little present, two pairs of origami earrings, for my niece because she is having her birthday today. The first one you can see here above and is folded from one little square of Washi paper (4,5x4,5cm). The finished model size is 2,5cm.

It's a traditional origami model, called Tato. When you fold it bigger, you can put something inside.

You can see the other pair of earrings here.

Preparing an other tessellation and suddenly I saw eyes, so I used the exciting creases trying to make an origami face.

Now I have taken a photo, I will unfold the face and continu to make the new tessellation ;-)

This is a recursion of my Twisted Bird Base Tessellation (the non-recursive version was published in Origami Deutschland 2016 convention book and International Origami Internet Olympiad (IOIO) 2016). The recursive / fractal version looks interesting but it's rather hard to collapse.

I think I saw somewhere on the internet a picture of a very simialr or even identical tessellation molecule designed by o'sorigami.

The etherial Chelone, the oldest member of Cirr-cus, seems to be everywhere and nowhere. But where she has been the flowers begin to bloom. And when the sun sparkles on her carapace it looks like you could catch a glimpse of the whole universe ^-^

The paper isTerry's Tissuefoilpaper ^-^

Preparing a new tessellation using (again) hexagons ;-) and I created this pattern. It's the first stage.

What you see is the negative of the original photo and I'm surprised to see how good you can see the creases and the layers of paper below. Looks like a blueprint ;-))

You can see next stage "Two" here.

And the finished model "Golden" here.

Origami Cat designed and folded by Ivan Svatko.

Paper: EH 30x30cm

Origanal design which I'm pretty satisfied with (at least now). However I have to rethink whole folding sequence once again to make it as clean as possible.

A little revised. Taken from the front.
