Feeling the requisite crazy having returned from a week and a half away from "normal life". I have to remind myself that this is a thing that occurs like clockwork, and eventually passes. Where I come back from the road or my sanctuary in the middle of nowhere and have to look around again for what I should be doing, since I always have to be doing something. It always seems as though the relief I get from stepping away exists in direct proportion to the anxiety of coming back and vice versa. The more anxiety before, the more relief of being away. The more relief of being away, the more anxiety upon returning. Rest can be important, but the distraction of momentum can sometimes be more important. Doing things is generally better than thinking things.

Anxiety and stress can be overwhelming experiences that can affect both the mind and body. People who experience anxiety and stress may feel a range of emotions, such as fear, worry, or panic, and may experience physical symptoms like headaches, muscle tension, and stomach discomfort. These feelings can interfere with daily activities and make it difficult to concentrate, sleep, or enjoy life. It can also lead to a sense of feeling constantly on edge, as if something bad is always about to happen. Seeking support from a mental health professional can be helpful in managing anxiety and stress.

Anxiety attacks can be so terrifying that you feel as if you’re about to die or all lose control. You may feel that you have a heart attack. After an anxiety attack is over, you may worry about having another one, especially in an area where you can’t easily escape or help isn’t available. It is a highly unpleasant experience.

The arrangements of signs and side effects of nervousness assaults are unique concerning person to person. It, for the most part, tops inside 10 minutes, and once in a while last over 30 minutes. Consequent nervousness assaults may pursue, causing the general tension assault involvement to endure longer. If the nervousness assault proceeds for a drawn-out period, the condition may turn out to be progressively muddled and therefore require additional time and exertion to determine.

Bones sinking like stones

All that we've fought for

All these places we've grown

All of us are done for

And we live in a beautiful world

Yeah we do, yeah we do

We live in a beautiful world

Bones sinking like stones

All that we've fought for

All these places we've grown

All of us are done for

And we live in a beautiful world

Yeah we do, yeah we do

We live in a beautiful world

And we live in a beautiful world

Yeah we do, yeah we do

We live in a beautiful world

Oh all that I know

There's nothing here to run from

'Cos yeah, everybody here's got somebody to lean on

“'I'll probably always live with impostor syndrome'” —Sarafina Nance

Quoted from an interview with Zoe Corbyn www.theguardian.com/science/2023/aug/12/astrophysicist-sarafina-el-badry-nance-starstruck-memoir-astrophysics-light-dark

CORBYN: “Impostor syndrome – this feeling of non-belonging that particularly crops up for women and minorities – is something that has deeply affected you, resulting in anxiety and panic attacks. How do you combat it?”

NANCE “Finding communities of people who look like you helps, as do supportive mentors. But the way I think about impostor syndrome has also evolved. I used to think I had generated it. But the reality is, it is my body recognising I am in a place that is not created or maintained for someone like me. And that is not imaginary: our broader systems and institutions inform these feelings of non-belonging. I will probably always live with [impostor syndrome]. But rather than self-flagellating internal narratives about not being smart enough or good enough (which I then reprimand myself for), I am trying to turn things back on the system.”

Sarafina El-Badry Nance is an Egyptian-American astrophysicist in the Department of Astronomy, University of California, Berkeley. Her research investigates supernovae and their applications to cosmology. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarafina_Nance
