Marcia’s in the back room panning for gold
The prospect’s looking grim
The edges are rough
Covered in fluff
It feels too long, and not long enough
Needs more than just a trim...

Old panhead has a pretty gold kick start pedal...
A Harley-Davidson Road Glide and an older model custom Harley-Davidson ® Panhead motorcycle. The Panhead engine was build from 1948 to 1965.
I shot photos of these two bikes for a buddy, so He could draw images of the bikes. We didn't worry about the back drop behind the bikes since he was just using the photo for reference.

This 1948 Panhead fulldresser is a tribute to Bessie Stringfield, photo by owner, background web find.
Meet the owner here;
Nods, he did it again, she is old, dirty, dented and rusty too.
But also in her beats a heart of two, a Panhead and a Shufflehead.
The Frankensteiner, a beautiful Frankenstein Motorcycle.
You can see, ride and buy that Motorcycle in Second Life at : maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/STURGIS/156/91/28
She's a high flyin' lady
She takes me where I want to be
There's no other woman
Standing between her and me
I'll always be faithful
And keep her 'til the end of time
God knows I'll always love
That old Panhead of mine...

The Wrecking Crew Harley-Davidson
After a bit of digging around on the web I've finally found a little more about this bike and what a fabulous story it is. The guys at W&W Cycles www.wwag.com rode two Harleys in -40 degrees (circa minus 60 degrees taking the chill factor into account) up in the Northwest Territories in Canada. There is a fabulous video on their website that can also be found on You Tube - Ice Road Riders (On Harleys)
It appears that the bike is a 1948 HD panhead.
Maybe if I'd have spent a minute or two photoshopping out the shadow of the mannequin it might have looked a bit more realistic. It was a display at a Harley exhibition at MOSI in Manchester. Which was good because it saved me travelling to one of the poles of the earth in sub zero temperatures. I could just jump on the bus, hop off outside the Museum of Science and Industry. Pay the entrance fee. Take a few snaps. Go for a pint. And be home in time for tea.
