Back from my vacation (again). The Dam and the Eagles were great to see but didn’t get any really good shots. I was clearly a couple of weeks to early for prime season but may have to take a day trip back in November to try to hit peak season.
Bombay Hook National Wildlife Preserve was pretty calm. With the milder fall to the north hardly any of the migratory birds were there yet but planning a day trip to Florida in the winter that I am sure will be more productive.
But yesterday I got to spend a wonderful day at the National Zoo in Washington DC. I got to meet up with Kim aka Mik5156 (see photostream here… www.flickr.com/photos/mik5156/ ). The first animals we went to were the Pandas. They were so active I could hardly believe it rolling around, playing, climbing trees, wrestling and just having a darn good time. I will try not to bore you with too many of those shots in a row so will flip around a bit but have plenty to post.

This was my first encounter with a red panda. It was every bit as gorgeous as I expected it to be. I suppose it's not surprising that I love red pandas because one of their common names is red cat-bear. :))
This photo was taken at the Panda Research Base in Chengdu, China. This panda was snoring while it enjoyed a nap in the tree - too funny.
