This red panda was actually sleeping when I first saw it, so I waited it out until he came out of his den and started eating. I happened to snap this shot just as he was looking at my camera.

Mei Lun and Mei Huan in their endless tussle for the favored sleeping place - 1/12/14

Last one for the contest. It was fun, but enough : - )

Cuteness overdose, such adorable critters.

Not in any way related to the Giant panda, despite the name. Sometimes referred to as cat-bears, the red panda is endemic to the temperate forests of the Himalayas, from the foothills of western Nepal to China in the east.

Mainly active at night, preferably dozing the day away in trees. (-;

This is Lun Lun the female panda at zoo Atlanta. She was climbing around her play area at the time this was taken.

Zoo Atlanta has a webcam on the pandas(10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday EST), it can be viewed here. [It doesn't seem to be streaming for me right now.]
