Congost de Mont-rebei situat al Pallars Jussá.Digne de ser visitat a peu ó Kayak. Té una extensió total de 600 hectáreas.

Vista de l'església romànica de Sant Joan d'Isil, just aigues avall del poble d'Isil, al Pallars Sobirà. Del hipotetic monestir només en resta l'església romànica triabsidial. De fet, que fos originariament un monestir sembla foça dubtós. Només es segur que fou parroquia ja al s. XII.
La seva situació just sobre la Noguera Pallaresa és impressionant, amb la capçalera triabsidial banyada per les remogudes aigues del riu. No crec que enlloc pogueu veure una altra església romànica tan arran d'un riu.
Actualment forma part del cementiri d'Isil.

The XII Century romanesque church of St. Joan d'Isil is rather unique. This quite big church has it's three apses built right in the fierce mountain Noguera Pallaresa river. I don't know of any other romanesque (or any other) church built almost inside a river, and specially such a savage river. It's known that several times the apses had been rebuilt.
Now the church still serves as part of Isil village cementery.

A la esquerra la Vall Ferrera propiament dita continua vers Àreu i fins els peus de la Pica d'Estats, i a l'esquerra comença la molt més estreta i salvatge vall de Tor, que amb grans dificultats porta fins Andorra.
Aquesta darrera vaig agafar, ara que el camí fins poc abans de Tor està encimentat, tot i que continua essent rabiosament estret!

To the left, the proper Vall Ferrera towards the beautiful village of Àreu, and to the right the wild Tor valley, narrow as few, with it's now metalled road towards the tiny village of Tor, my objective in this cloudy morning of July.

Après une longue attente dans la cabane d'affût, le couple d'Aigles royaux est venu se poser (séparément) sur leurs perchoirs favoris.

El pont vell de Gerri de la Sal, al Pallars Sobirà és d'origen romànic, vinculat a la existencia del important monestir de Santa Maria de Gerri. Però les reiterades riuades de la Noguera Pallaresa s'el han endut per endavant més d'una vegada, i actual arc, de maons, és d'època moderna (s. XIX ?).
La gent aprofita la fresca aigua de la Noguera Pallaresa per calmar la calor del agost.

The old bridge of Gerri de la Sal, in the Catalan Pyrenees, has medieval origins. Probably the parts to the sides are from the XI Century, but the arch is much more modern. It's known that the quite savage Noguera Pallaresa river has destroyed this bridge several times, and the present brick arch is quite "modern", probably from the XIX Century.
Could be nice to swim in the cold waters of the river in the middle of the August sun.

Al cap d'amunt de la Vall de Cardós, encerclat per alguns dels cims més alts del Pirineu català, com el Certascan, Broate, Baborte i Sotllo, es troba el Pla de Boavi. En ell contrasta la plana farcida de prats i arbredes, regada per la Noguera de Lladorre, amb tota la roca nua i les costes que l'envolten.
Ara està molt net i conservat, però recordo anar-hi als anys 80, quan s'hi podia arribar amb cotxe, ple de potols fent acampada lliure i omplint-lo tot d'escombraries. S'hi ha fet bona feina, aquí.

At the upper side of the Vall de Cardós, surrounded by some of the highest peaks of the Catalan Pyrenees, such as Certascan, Broate, Baborte and Sotllo, lays the Pla de Boavi ("Boavi plain"). It's gentle rolling surface, filled with meadows and trees, watered by the Noguera de Lladorre, contrasts with all the bare rock and the coasts that surround it.
It's very clean and well-kept now, but I remember going there in the 80s, when you could get there by car, full of disgusting people free camping and littering it all. Good work has been done here.
It has always made me think of a kind of Catalan version of Rivendel, Elrond's last house in Middle-earth.

I was fascinated by the acrobatics of this golden eagle, which barely uses its wings to move from one tree trunk to another !
J'ai été fasciné par les acrobaties de cet aigle royal qui s'aidait à peine de ses ailes pour se déplacer d'un tronc d'arbre à un autre !
