Esta estación, es posiblemente uno de los últimos vestigios que quedan del pequeño tren a Palamós.

 

Desde sus inicios la línea discurría en su mayor parte pegada a la carretera de Palamós, pasando por el centro de las poblaciones de su recorrido. Las estaciones importantes fueron derruidas hace ya muchos años...

 

Curiosamente, a la altura de Torrent, la carretera discurría por un pequeño puerto de montaña con bastantes curvas los "Revolts de Torrent", que impedía que el ferrocarril pasara por allí. Así pues, en esta zona los constructores de la línea construyeron un amplio trazado en curva bordeando el pequeño puerto de montaña para poder salvarlo. dentro de este trazado en un bonito paraje del Ampurdán cerca del pueblo se edificó la estación. Que actualmente sobrevive como puede...

This station is possibly one of the last remaining vestiges of the small train to Palamós.

 

From its beginnings, the line ran mostly alongside the Palamós road, passing through the centers of the towns along its route. The important stations were demolished many years ago...

 

Interestingly, near Torrent, the road ran through a small mountain pass with many curves, the "Revolts de Torrent," which prevented the railway from passing through. Thus, in this area, the line builders built a wide curved section around the small mountain pass to avoid it. The station was built within this section, in a beautiful spot in the Empordà region near the town. It still survives as best it can today...

Captured a rare moment in rail history! Steam locomotive WP #7000, affectionately known as "Ashoka," gracefully chugged through Shahbad (SMDP) on a foggy winter morning, heading towards Rewari with the enchanting Steam Heritage Express.

 

Earlier, I focused on capturing 14088 JSM DLI Runicha featuring the stunning 20055 TKD Bleed Blue WDP4. As I was about to wrap up my railfanning day, satisfied with the iconic TKD livery shots, I was surprised. A mysterious greyish-black train appeared in the distance from Palam, and my initial guess of "Alco" was quickly dismissed as I zoomed in through the camera lens.

 

To my sheer amazement, it was a live steam locomotive! I promptly prepared my phone and camera, positioning myself for the perfect shot. Ashoka's rhythmic chugging, melodious whistle, and leisurely pace garnered attention from onlookers as it gracefully passed through SMDP.

 

This unexpected encounter marked one of the greatest captures of my railfanning journey. This is the essence of steam heritage—a nostalgic reminder of a bygone era. Steam trains exude a majestic charm uniquely their own. Let's hope the Indian Railways runs these steam beauties more frequently, coupled with effective marketing and affordable pricing, allowing more enthusiasts to relish this magical experience.

Alexandra Palace is a Grade II listed entertainment and sports venue in London, situated on a high ridge to the North of central London. It is referred to as "Ally Pally".

 

In 1935, the trustees leased part of the palace to the BBC for use as the production and transmission centre for their new television service. In 1936, it became the home of the BBC's first regular public television service. The broadcasting system was the 405-line monochrome analogue television – the first fully electronic television system to be used in regular broadcasting. Although other facilities soon superseded it after the war, Alexandra Palace continued to be used by the BBC for many years and its radio and television mast is still in use.

 

The original studios 'A' and 'B' still survive in the southeast wing with their producers' galleries and are used for exhibiting original historical television equipment. The original Victorian theatre with its stage machinery also survives and as of 2019, is back in use. The theatre and stage structure is on English Heritage's Buildings at Risk register. Alexandra Palace became a listed building l in 1996, at the instigation of the Hornsey Historical Society.

 

The Great Hall and West Hall are typically used for exhibitions, music concerts, and conferences, operated by the trading arm of the charitable trust that owns the building and park on behalf of the public. There is also a pub, ice rink, Palam Court, and a panoramic view of central London.

Este pequeño ferrocarril desde sus inicios se planificó como una línea tranviaria, por lo tanto su trazado discurrió casi en su mayoria al lado de la carretera y por las calles de los pueblos por los que pasaba. Al cerrar la línea las carreteras y calles se ampliaron y la mayoría de las estaciones fueron derruidas, apenas quedan vestigios de este ferrocarril y la estación de Mata es un pequeño trozo de historia que sobrevivió.

 

Por fortuna, hace unos años, el Ayuntamiento de la población rehabilitó el edificio de la estación en memoria del tren que perdieron...

 

La sección a Banyoles era conocida cariñosamente como "Tren Pinxo".

This small railway from its beginnings was planned as a tram line, therefore its route ran almost mostly next to the road and through the streets of the towns through which it passed. When the line was closed, the roads and streets were widened and most of the stations were demolished, there are hardly any vestiges of this railway and the Mata station is a small piece of history that survived.

  

Fortunately, a few years ago, the town council rehabilitated the station building in memory of the train they lost...

  

The section to Banyoles was affectionately known as the "Pinxo Train".
