A female otter and her cub, Loch Scridain, Isle of Mull

I didn’t realize that the pronghorn antelope is an original “native American”. It has no close relative on this or any other continent. We spotted this pair alone—separated from the herd—and the male was a bit lame. Although he had seen better days, the female was sticking close by him, waiting patiently as he slowly followed her across the stream and up the hill.

This ice sculpture was about 5 feet tall. It was one of some 50 or so amazing ice sculptures made in the open area behind the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel, which was hosting the annual Ice Magic Festival.

As the mist cleared on the marshes this morning the Beardies were on the move and in perfect conditions I did take a few pictures :-)

I love to find beauty in the mundane or daily life and I hope I will stay with this notion as long as it is possible ....

An old archive picture taken in 2012 and the stories going with it in the following.

Have a good Tuesday!

I love abstract (photo design with emphasis on visual elements such as form, lines and tones). In my understanding, there could be two kinds of abstract compositions in photography.

One is the design that you could no longer identify the objects you are are shooting.

The other kind is that you can still recognise the objects.

This is an old archive picture taken with my Fuji X10 compact in my kitchen.

I was trying to do a near abstract composition with the two cups in my kitchen. Have a great weekend!

The following is the original story of the post.

Have a great Friday and great weekend my friends!

This pair was one of many hungry couples along the riverfront on Tuesday.

Twisted pairs of wire connected to an RJ-45 plug. Read the Wikipedia article to see why they are twisted. It is likely that every photo you see on Flickr has, at one point, traversed a twisted pair.

This pair was defending their territory; the nest must have been close by the hotel I was staying in because they were flying around a perch very close to my window.

I love these vans. It's a real shame that mitsubishi never produced these in Canada!

According to ukbutterflies.co.uk, large blues stay 'in cop' for about an hour, and this pair certainly lived up to that giving us lots of photo opportunities.

Two pears for the looking close... on Friday group, topic: A Pair. Happy Friday!

I was sitting on the ground of the parking lot watching the Mountain Bluebird pair gathering food for their babies. They spent more time on the ground so I sat down and watched waiting to get a shot. About a minute later, I looked up and this Rock Wren was right in front of me.

I knew Rock Wrens had been seen up there but I was not expecting to look up and see it staring at me. Surprised and delighted me! No calls played.

This pair of Egyptian Geese reside in my local park and usually produce a good clutch of eggs/goslings each year.

I heard that they had brought the newly hatched goslings over from the nesting site on an island in the lake, to the area where visitors walk. This is a risky move as people enter the park with their dogs at this point (some not on a lead) and the male swan (we only have one pair) is very protective and territorial when his mate is currently sitting on her nest.

Sadly there were initially ten yesterday, but only seven on my count this morning.

I went to the park early hoping to find them. When I arrived Mum was keeping them all warm. Then 2 dogs arrived across the water inlet where they were and this disturbed them. Thankfully another visitor was feeding them with seeds so I got some good footage. Enjoy!
