Did you swoon when you read those special words? Have you ever? Is it even a thing now. Do words still have that same impact when they're read on a screen. I can imagine seeing the swirls of ink on paper where you know the effort that's gone into finding the perfect pen, the right paper, the walk to the post office, all the surmounting effort that a person has gone into to share those feelings with you. It's a piece of writing that might elicit a sense of anticipation. It's not only the stationery that's been perfectly selected. It's the word. There's a permanence about the written word. It cannot easily be changed without starting all over again so each line must be crafted to perfection.

You don't see those pulsating dots indicating that someone is sending you immediate communication as they type and delete and type and wonder if their words may be taken out of context. Was that sarcasm? Did they accidentally insult? Was it teasing? Did they just express feelings? I don't know if I can ask them to clarify what they think I said, they might laugh, they might feel insulted.

If you've read this far you will be wondering yourself what this all means. It was a passing thought after watching "Cyrano De Bergerac" in which there is much swooning and all from a few words on a page. Is this possible or is it merely fanciful poetic license? I have become far too cynical to think it's true but at the same time, I feel I can identify with the Cyrano character who can write but also with the Christian character who cannot talk for his brain turns to mush. I'm not saying I could bring overpowering feelings that would cause a person to feel faint. That would take a great deal of effort.

I think we all know a few Cyrano characters. Those with a great and powerful mind but think less of themselves because their appearance does not meet their own approval. Like him with the huge nose that he found so hideous, there are those who will not be convinced that they are worth more than what the mirror tells them. It's hard for us not to focus on that which everyone sees. It's what we notice first. We try not to but I think we know that's where our initial judgement comes from. Not just of ourselves but when we meet others too. Ah but the mind of these same people who feel themselves inferior. When you experience that. The things their mind come can produce, the thoughts, the words, the feelings. These are the things that make you say I want to be in that person's company. It's what makes you see all of them and then you'll know if they're going to make you swoon.

This male cardinal is digitally painted from a photograph of the cardinal in my neighbor's Spruce tree. ....and the plants are showing it. These geraniums were bruised by a hard rain and strong winds. The Sunflowers are bent and turning brown, yet I leave the seed heads bobbing gracefully so that the gold finches will come and visit.

Summer is easing out and fall is stomping in.

While in the food line in the reception tent the bride and groom strolled byand I grabbed my cell phone. I like this one due to the distorions in the vinal window give it a oil paint effect (not the usual pin point focus) and you can make out the love between the couple.

So - One thing about Chicory, it grows by highways!! If you're going to shoot this amazing little flower be prepared to venture out on some major highways (of couse always abide by local laws) and don't shoot in the middle of Interstate highways where this loves to grow!!

I LOVE this weed!! I really enjoy shooting it and can do so for quite some time.

The Fox River. Algonquin, Illinois.

The Fox River of Illinois—not to be confused with the Fox River of central Wisconsin—arises in southern Wisconsin in a lake basin about 15 miles northwest of Milwaukee. From this point, the Fox flows southward for 185 miles (100 miles in Illinois) and drops 470 vertical feet to reach its confluence with the Illinois River. As the Fox enters Illinois, it passes through Illinois' chain of lakes and then meanders southward through Lake, McHenry, Kane, and DuPage Counties. The Fox River is a major waterway with many small islands. Its steep valley has an average gradient of 3.6 feet per mile, and its strong flow made the stream a good source for industrial waterpower. This led to early industrial development with many dams and mills built on the stream. Now most of the old mill dams are gone, but they have been replaced by hydroelectric, flood control, and navigation dams. -Encyclopedia of Chicago
