EXO 809 is almost at Central Station as it passes the Paco Corp building at right. A new control point received the name Paco when it was put into service a few years back.

Built on the highest natural elevation in the area, the walls of the castle of Montemor-o-Novo used to close the old urban area which was progressively abandoned by the population since the 15th century. However, until today, the perimeter of the castle preserves important testimonies from the medieval history of Montemor-o-Novo, such as these ruins of the “Paço dos Alcaides”, the former Palace of the Governors that accommodated various monarchs and gathered the courts for several times.

Edificadas no monte mais elevado na região, as muralhas do castelo de Montemor-o-Novo delimitavam a antiga área urbana, progressivamente abandonada pela população a partir do século XV. Contudo, o perímetro do castelo conserva até hoje importantes testemunhos da história medieval de Montemor-o-Novo como é o caso destas ruínas do Paço dos Alcaides, o antigo palácio dos governadores da cidade que chegou a alojar vários monarcas e a reunir as cortes por diversas ocasiões.
