Bob is the one with his face in Paco's crotch. I've gotten some bad news about Bob in the past week. I had noticed that he'd been pretty listless and seemed to be losing weight. After blood work and ultrasounds, he has free flowing fluid in his abdomen. The diagnosis is that he has feline Infectious peritonitis. The bottom line is that there is no cure and it is always fatal. We don't know how much time he has, could be weeks, or months- but not usually years. We've started a treatment plan where I have to give him interferon and a steroid daily. The plan is that it will boost his immune system.
The issue for me, is that I can do this every day- but if it really isn't going to buy him much time- is it even worth it? He's eating, but not very much. He still cuddles with me and sleeps with me at night, but he doesn't play.. So- this is not something that I was expecting at all. He's still a young cat- 6 or 7 years old.

Built in the end of the 17th century as residence to the Governors of the city, later became house of orders and later residence of the Brazilian Viceroy and after this residence to the King and finally Emperors of Brazil. Today is a cultural center.
