An English language catalogue for the products of Fazer entitled “May we present Fazer?” and issued by the famous Finnish confectionery and food company of Karl Fazer. Consisting of loose leaf sheets, clip-bound in a folder, the catalogue is not dated but the product range and design feels late-1950s to early 1960s.
Karl Fazer opened his first café in Helsinki, Finland, in 1891 and rapidly branched out into manufacturing a range of chocolates and confectionery. The ranges were often carefully packaged and branded such as Fazer Sininen-Fazer Blue milk chocolate introduced in 1922. The company is still independent and its brands are to be found widely across the Scandinavian countries where they also produce a large range of bakery goods and biscuits.
I do not recall them as ever having much visibility in the UK market – a crowded field with its own manufacturers – but the Christmas arrival of Orange and Lemon Slices did occasionally, I recall, include Fazer’s blue packaging. The catalogue shows a wide range of products and it is fascinating to see packaging in colour.
Tania chips aspired to stand out on the shelves when kept with other food and drink FMCG brand. Other than clearly displaying the packaged product, the brand wished to attract the younger audience i.e. kids and teens through vibrant colours and playful design.

The catalogue shows a wide range of products and it is fascinating to see packaging in colour. These labels show a range of small milk chocolate bars in "colorful, gay labels" aimed at "younger consumers".

Choose your path wisely. Traditional symbols say a lot about a company and their brand promise.
Tsunami approached EVOK Advertising to re-brand their line of mobile audio consumer electronics. Once a relaxed, beach lifestyle brand, transitioned into a strong force to be reckoned. EVOK re-branded the entire company, from a new logo to a print advertising campaign and from a website and product & distributor catalogs. The Japanese culture is one symbolizing strength, ingenuity and productivity. Since the car audio target is 16 to 24-year-old males, the tough, warrior approach was apropos. The red Japanese Tsunami character symbolized strength and power, just as all car audio cords are red.
As one element of the re-brand, EVOK Advertising created an intriguing print advertising campaign to showcase Tsunami’s unique products. Just like the ninja, the Tsunami products move quickly, essentially undetected. The ninja lifestyle is one of honor, loyalty and covert actions.
Further, EVOK designed the product, packaging, created the product categories and developed the entire merchandising kit and advertising campaign.
