Just after Christmas, on dec. 27th, Harm, me and some other "urban explorers" went to the abandoned mines of Cheratte, near Luik in Belgium.
Ofcourse, hundreds of photographers were here before us, so I decided to do exactly what I wanted: to make a series of photographs that would be representative of the mood and feel I had while exploring the mine.
It's old and rusty, and you can feel history coming towards you, through each door...
I hope you enjoy the photos I made!

I've been scanning in a roll of Portra 400 that I shot with my XA last month and there are a number of nice shots I will be posting here gradually.
First up is this image shot in a hospital while my dad was in for the night having some knee surgery. I have a bit more of a rambling description of this on my site fiftyfootshadows.net as well as a larger desktop sized version of the image...

We took Kaylie to the Emergency room yesterday morning at 4 a.m. They ended up transferring her to Devos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. My wife took this shot of us . . . except I fell asleep. Kaylie is doing fine now - She had a very low blood/oxygen level when we got there. She was having trouble breathing due to a viral "something." Kaylie is #6 in the lineup for those of you who didn't know:) Mom and Kaylie should be able to come home tonight!
My father and I are occassional smokers and we usually call this little tube as oxygen... though we are aware what it really is... a carbon monoxide tube.
The wonderful invention of scuba diving which makes it possible to breath under water. Yes, at low depth we can breathe easily using scuba diving equipment. Scuba suits allow human to take “liquid oxygen” and breathe normally like fishes. In this kit, liquid oxygen is filled into cylinders and an enclosed diving helmet is used and you can enjoy diving but only around 70m depth, for diving it is difficult to breathe. We make liquid oxygen generating system that can generate 99.7% oxygen gas that is medically approved. So industries which need liquid oxygen making machinery can contact us soon here- Liquid oxygen plant/machinery manufacturer India
I usually tear them out of the magazine and clip them to my lamp, looking at it keeps me going on a daily
It's that time of year again: Upfront season. I actually watched an MTA employee put this poster for Oxygen's Generation O up. Subway ads touting the buying power of their viewers has become a tradition for Oxygen. Their goal and tagline remains the same: to plug their "Trender, Spender, Recommender" viewers as non-stop buying machines. What recession? What 9.7% unemployment rate? These ladies have credit cards and they're not afraid of interest rates.
There's a few differences in the 2010 Generation O ad worth noting:
1. Apparently, the fresh-faced not a girl/not yet a woman seen here is an actual Oxygen viewer. I assume the vapid, plastic expression is a necessity in the upfront ad genre.
2. No diversity. Previous ads have featured women of color because you know Generation O/debt doesn't discriminate. I wonder why they decided to focus on one caucasian female. Hmm.
3. Ms. Angie from Dallas isn't shopping. In previous ads, the Generation O ladies were shopping or appeared on their way to shop. Is Generation O beginning to show some restraint or did she max out her Saks card already?
This photo was taken at the 67 Avenue station in Forest Hills, Queens.
can't say i'm feeling particularly inspired by what's sitting on my laptop right now, but i dug this one out. i only had my camera a few weeks at the time i shot this. i posted a similar photo some time ago, i think i may like that one better. anyway, this is a rusted out compost bin sitting on a friend's driveway. i think rust looks kinda cool close up.
