I thought there could possibly be four owlets all waiting on the parents coming in with food but after to-nights viewing I believe I am looking at triplets with possible the female adult. It was lovely to watch the two middle sisters still bonding/kissing each other whilst they wait like previous times.
P.S new camera SX60 taking me in further but it's taking time and pot luck with the monopod if the image comes out clear.
Great Horned owls usually hunt by silently sitting on a high perch in the dark and swooping down on hapless rodents, birds or other prey that never see or hear them coming. The 3 month old owlets are flying well now but have perfected the whole swoop and grab thing so they spend a lot of time after dark now running around on the ground trying to pounce on anything they see or hear like insects, frogs mice or baby birds. I heard the local robins making a big fuss last night so I went out to see what was going on and found 2 of the owlets on the hunt in my back yard. Usually I can't film this because there is not enough light but an almost full moon and high ISO setting allowed me to get some of the action. Hope you enjoy it as much as the owlets seemed to.

Stitching some pens for Kreinik for a trunk show. This one is called "Owlet" and has a glow-in-the-dark thread color to make "eyes". So cool and very quick to stitch. Kreinik Stitch-A-Pen kits.
After hiding for over 2 hours, it was nearly getting too dark for any photography, but we were rewarded with the sight of 2 owlets scrabbling to the entrance to get one of their first views of the big wide world. Hopefully the look of the photo will overcome the poor quality due to the ridiculously high ISO setting that had to be used.
First images of this years owlets, this gorgeous youngster is one of six owlets from this years brood, all have fledged successfully and are thriving in their new surroundings, hope to get more images soon.

Out of many shots of this young Owlet I liked this one especially because of it's eagerness to fly. Every time it came out of the nest and on top of the perch while going back to nest it used to stretch wings and jump as if it is practicing and getting prepared for fledgling.
Great Horned Owlet, Florida
This little one already looks like it has a bad reputation. One day it will grow up and become a "Tiger of the Skies" like its parents.
