Watching a ton of muscle and sinew saunter up to the edge of a 25-foot cliff can be hair raising. But trying to estimate the exposure compensation when shooting into the shadow side of a dark animal on a bright snowy background is nothing short of shuttering. I always choose to try to most properly expose my darks in the subject, in that way preserving the details in the shadows. You risk “blowing out” your highlights but this the dance of the wildlife shooter. Post processing has become intricate enough to allow a certain amount of rebalancing of shadow and light. I prefer not to have to “overwork” an image. Of course, the art of photography is creating the image that pleases you the most, and as long as you are not shooting journalistic photos, the canvas is yours to manipulate.

I wonder how can Super Junior continue without Leader Leeteuk when he enlists in the Army. But for Heechul, I wonder how can he continue without Super Junior and us. Finally now I know what I should wonder is how can I continue without Kim Heechul :)
Norfolk Island has a dark history of settlement with several phases. The Islanders talk about the Polynesian phase, first Convict Settlement, Second Convict Settlement and then the relocation of the Pitcairn Islanders, ancestors of the Bounty Mutineers and their Tahitian mates. The Kingston and Arthur's Vale Area (KAVA) is a UNESCO World Heritage Area. Consisting of many fine buildings associated with the now ruined jail. Most of these buildings were made of limestone quarried from the nearby Phillip and Nepean Islands, This is one of the views from the Queen Elizabeth Lookout on the hill leading down to the KAVA area.
To the far right is the former Barracks on Quality Row. The top right the buildings around the Kingston Pier (obscured by trees). The Convict Settlement have an absolutely brutal history with mainly young men (14-17yrs) lasting about 6-12 months before dying from overwork, disease and starvation.

Been working with Macphun's Creative Kit and like it very much. It's very Mac-like…intuitive, easy to use, and has excellent abilities to enhance images without them looking overworked. This White Ibis was from Florida in 2014. Taken at close to sunset, the quality of light was not lost in processing. Good detail and tonal range.
done on the spot, a little bit overworked, never know when to stop... maybe it was better before adding all the greens...
Another picture from my outing yesterday along Bexhill's seafront but a different perspective than my previous shot.
First of all thanks for all your kind words after my absence for a couple of weeks with the flu and being overworked lol.
Peter Chinnock and El Tel63 asked how I get such long exposure's, well basically you have to help that 10 stop filter sometimes with your camera settings.
I lower my cameras ISO to it's lowest setting which is ISO 100 (this is below it's native setting of 200), I up the aperture to around f/16 and above depending on the length of exposure I want or the lighting conditions, the moody weather helped as the light levels were'nt to bright so this helped as well, also zooming into an area can help reduce the light coming onto the sensor.
You can also with some practice over expose your long exposures which increases the shutter length then bring back detail in post processing (this option is only when really required though).
So basically with your settings you can really reduce the sensitivity of your sensor letting less light in giving you exposures of up 2-5 minutes or more with that 10 stop filter.
Make sure you have a tripod and cable release though.
This picture was taken with my Hitech Pro Stopper and Lee 0.9 ND grad giving me an exposure of 112 seconds.
This was with an aperture of f/16 so I still had the option to increase that aperture and add extra minutes on if needed but there wouldn't have been much point really as the sea has smoothed out nicely anyway so it's all about balance and the effect you are after.
Hope this helps but if anyone needs any more info please feel free to e-mail me where I willl be only to happy to help you.

As best one can given the smoky atmosphere throughout Canada and the northern United States from rampaging Canadian wildfires in the provinces of Nova Scotia, Québec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
All told, the Canadian government estimates there are now approximately 414 fires raging across Canada (239 out of control) encompassing 1,396,659 square miles, the equivalent of 5 million football fields). In Canada, the majority of wildfires are caused by lightning striking dry forests and yes, a large number are also caused by humans through carelessness. This past winter was drier than normal and a very hot, dry spring turned parts of the country into a giant tinderbox.
Overworked Canadian forest firefighters have been reinforced by 700 additional firefighters from the United States, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and for that help we are very appreciative. PM Justin Trudeau also asked the EU for assistance and as a result there are another 280 additional firefighters coming from France, Spain and Portugal as well. Huge thanks to them also.
Canadian government Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair has said the arrival of cooler weather and rain in some parts of the country will certainly help the firefighters. Canada has 362 million hectares (almost 900 million acres) of forested land across the country.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is now playing at the Palace Theatre, London.
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new play by Jack Thorne. It is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is one play presented in two Parts, which are intended to be seen in order on the same day (matinee and evening) or on two consecutive evenings.
Happy Pride Month, Crewmates!
This chapter is dedicated to celebrating the most delicious, fruity month of the year where the rainbow flags fly high and we let the world know that we're not going anywhere!
That being said, I want to take a moment to announce that I will be taking an unexpected but necessary hiatus from The Captain and the Engineer for a little while. I have every intention on continuing the story but this will give me a chance to prepare for the upcoming chapters which are very involved.
I also want to make sure I don't overwork myself too much and therefore will be taking some time for me and my mental health.
Thank you for your understanding and patience ahead of time!
Please continue to follow me on Flickr and Primfeed..and of course don't forget to follow TCATE on Facebook and join the Discord group! Links are below!

Minimal processing, it looks like I overworked the clouds, but they really had this much detail and contrast in them! New Mexico is wild with these sunsets.
Pastel painting. A huge Thank You to Flickr's alirezanajafian for so generously allowing me to paint his incredible photo.
This is a painting of an old Iranian gentleman. Unfortunately, I do not know any more of his life's story than what is displayed on his face. I have worked and worked on this when I could but somehow I feel I have failed to capture the essence of his life. A good rendering of the wrinkles has eluded me so far as well.
I will probably do additional work on it as time allows in an effort to make the wrinkles more believable, although I do fear overworking it.
Well, they were. Until my daughter picked them off a beach in North Wales and brought them home and created a bee pond, or bee swimming pool, or bee drinking station...(actually I think she called it a 'bee fountain')........somewhere where our overworked, underpaid, and over taxed bees can freshen themselves up and have a drink without drowning.
The church was mentioned first time in 1253. The building was extended and overworked several times.

“I’m hungry,” she chimed, seemingly out of nowhere, idly twisting a hair lock around her finger. Her companion wasn’t quite reading as much as using an old volume as armor against conversation, she suspected. At least a legitimate concern wasn’t likely to be brushed off.
As if to mock the thought, her words were met with a flat “Mhmm.” The sort that suggested she might as well have stated she was seeing God for a speed date or was intent on reinventing the sun into something less bothersome for all that he’d been listening. Which he wasn’t, nor did he truly intend to start now, engrossed as he was in-…he turned the book over to glance at the title. Familiar Garden Flowers – how perfectly asinine. He suppressed an irritated sigh and resumed reading. Or tried. He could only re-read paragraphs without paying attention for so long before something slithered uninvited into his consciousness, after all, so it couldn’t be an absolute loss.
Not a win, but not an absolute loss.
“I said. I’m hungry,” she repeated impatiently, the glare fixed in his direction turning baleful now. Letting go of the overworked hair lock, she shifted in her seat, the movement pointedly jerky, so she could cross arms. Also, pointedly.
“I heard you the first time,” came the idle response while he made a veritable production of turning a page, from licking his fingertip to flipping the leaf with a flourish. Because really, with disregard to the fact that he had more interest in the book’s leather binding than its content, it was rude to interrupt a reader. He could hear her rustling movement and could even see it in his peripheral vision – if she could make a point, so could he.
“Did you, now. I couldn’t quite tell,” the snide response came readily, accompanied by more rustling and more movement. Next thing he knew, the book was effectively plucked from his hand, and the pages were replaced with a very distinct glare. “Do you know how long we’ve been sitting here? It’s been hours. Hours!”
Splendid. She was…angry. Just what he needed.
Option one – diffuse the situation. In favor of Familiar Garden Flowers. Pass.
Option two it was, then.
“Try reading,” he responded, still idly draped over the sofa, head leaning back to regard her with his habitual feigned indifference. And as he’d hoped, the book was used to deliver a firm smack to his nearest limb before it was thrown across the room. A hand rubbed the spot she’d smacked in reflex while he volunteered a glib “I take it that’s a no.”
Leaning back, she straightened up and took a breath. A deep breath. The sort, he suspected, one takes when they’re preparing to give a big speech.
No. No, no.
She flicked her hair over one shoulder before crossing her arms over her chest once again. “I see how it is,” she finally stated, her voice a lot calmer than he’d expected.
Oh, well.
“You’re pretending to read that book, which I don’t suppose you could even name-…”
“Familiar Garden Flowers,” he interjected, not bothering to keep the smugness out of his voice.
She waved a dismissive hand before continuing. “You’re pretending to read a book you can just about name, so we wouldn’t have do anything so unpleasant as, say, converse. Heavens forbid you should so much as show an interest in anything that isn’t your reflection!”
As if on cue, he rose from his seat, hands already reaching for his tie. It was time to preen – for effect.
Turning on her heel to track his movement, she continued, undeterred. “Very well, I accept it, all of it. But as it is, I am in fact hungry.” The last words were delivered emphatically while she glared at his preening form.
“Well, that’s mighty inconvenient,” he commented. Having found a mirror, he continued adjusting the knot on his tie, pushing it this way and that as though it had been askew. For all intents and purposes, she’d taken the fun out of needling her, and now he was intent on finding the most useless responses he could think of.
Not for the first time this evening, he’d miscalculated though.
It started with that familiar intake of breath – that sharp inhale, impatient and infuriated. The exhale that followed, nothing but a loud huff. But whereas he’d expected a few footsteps and the final sound to be that of her body slumping down on the dainty chair she’d been begrudgingly occupying all evening, there were footsteps. In the wrong direction.
“Just where do you think you’re going?!” He asked irritably, turning to watch her departing form.
“To eat.”
“Have you lost your mind?!” he asked, his irritation finally turning to something closer to the fury she was fueled by, covering the distance quickly to reach for her arm. No hesitation, no concern – a grab and a forceful pull. “You’d get us exposed. Or worse, killed!”
“I don’t care. I would rather die than endure another hour wiling away here with you. I can’t even decide if I’m going to die of hunger or of actual boredom.”
“You step outside, and you’re going to lose control and die of an actual stake, so do reconsider not-so-secret option three more carefully, if you would” he retorted snidely, the irritation and anger joined by a heavy dose of sarcasm. “And I’ve got news for you. This is what you signed up for. Forever is a long, long time. What did you think it entailed half the time?!”
And truly, he would have gone on had there not been a knock on the door.
The argument stopped, suspended and forgotten, both gazes turned to the door as though they were willing it to show them through.
“Please. I promise it wouldn’t be much. I’m dreadfully hungry.”
He considered it for a beat. But then, whether here or out in the city, his duty was the same. He…was effectively the nanny. It was only fitting that he was reading Familiar Garden Flowers, he reflected with remnants of his snideness before shrugging.
Letting go of her, he smoothed his palms over his coat and gave her a meaningful look. A look that exchanged her hopeful stare with an eyeroll.
“Coming,” he responded, his voice taking an unnaturally pleasant quality as he turned to open the door.
Sometimes I really like an instagram photo and then it takes me three weeks to actually sit down and overwork it.
This is my uni's entrance and I can't get over how pretty the whole surrounding is. :)
Stop and smell the roses:
To take time to enjoy the finer or more enjoyable aspects of life, especially when one has become overworked or overly stressed.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.
KEEP CALM AND STOP TO SMELL THE FLOWERS
You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.
Walter Hagen
There are many simple ways to practice mindfulness. Some examples include:
Pay attention. It's hard to slow down and notice things in a busy world. Try to take the time to experience your environment with all of your senses — touch, sound, sight, smell and taste. For example, when you eat a favorite food, take the time to smell, taste and truly enjoy it.
Live in the moment. Try to intentionally bring an open, accepting and discerning attention to everything you do. Find joy in simple pleasures.
Accept yourself. Treat yourself the way you would treat a good friend.
Focus on your breathing. When you have negative thoughts, try to sit down, take a deep breath and close your eyes. Focus on your breath as it moves in and out of your body. Sitting and breathing for even just a minute can help.

Tales from the Crypt: the Official Archives; Foot Soldiers
By Dr. Jon Suter
Readers who grew up in the early 1950s can recapture their childhoods by acquiring Digby Diehl’s “Tales from the Crypt: the Official Archives” (St. Martin’s Press, 1996).
Those who grew up later will also want a copy, but they will never be able to share the earlier generation’s memory of joy at seeing new EC horror titles on racks and wallowing in the gruesomeness perpetrated by EC writers and artists.
The rise, fall, and eventual triumph of EC has been chronicled in many places. American popular culture has been indelibly marked by editors and writers William Gaines and Al Feldstein, artists Jack Davis and Graham Ingels, and numerous others.
Readers unfamiliar with the Gaines saga catch up quickly with this volume’s valuable historical and biographical information. The price is ghastly ($45), however, paper quality and illustrations make it worthwhile.
Other EC reprint materials are available, but this book brings the story up to date with extensive coverage of the popular television series.
Hollywood’s special effects can equal or surpass anything Gaines’ team put on paper, but this reader still retains fondness for letting the imagination add a few hideous details to the final moments of a story.
If there was one dominant theme in these horror titles, it was that evil will bring retribution. Virtue may not be rewarded, but justice will be visited upon the predatory, the abuse, and the corrupt.
Dante’s “Inferno” was mild in comparison to EC’s version of justice. One wonders what punishments Gaines and his team would mete out for transgressors who stalk our world today.
This book is not for small children, particularly because of photographs from the television series.
Even those who won the Russ Cochran reprints of EC titles will want to consider adding this to their collections.
MINIVIEW: “The Foot Soldiers” [Dark Horse]. Quirky and theatrical, well written and drawn, this twist on the overworked superhero theme is entertaining, irritating (for its overuse of puns) and recommended. MV
40 x 50 oil on canvas
Seven large "plein air" works from June to July 2015 continuing the theme of the previous two residences of 2013-14 . These works are painted in oil on canvas and were largely done out of doors. This series is my response to the high contrasts of summer and a reflection upon Walden and my affection for the place. My current work is an assimilation of the "Plein air" work from 2012-14 and trying to work larger and more consistently on each painting. Whilst the imagery may appear very traditional, believe me these are places I have a great deal of affection for and therefore I feel some liberty to inject the work with sentiment. As for mark making and surface, I have kept the colours pure and the marks free and not overworked or tidied up in the studio. There are evidences of drips and dribbles, dashes and blobs all over the surface, for me this is evidence of the working process and not to be erased. As with all my work a sense of pattern and trying to resolve what's before me in strong geometry and colour.

There are many women coming here from Africa during the summer just for working with the tourists, not a splendid work, but I hope that at least they are not overworked...
I use to buy something now and then, they are so gentle, really exquisite persons.
And so elegant, better than a mannequin in a fashion show !

lately, i've been having really weird dreams...you know the kind that are so weird and complicated that you forget exactly what was going on within an hour of waking up? either that, or really stupid dreams about writing papers or forgetting homework... i'm obviously overworked. but excited for spring break!! x]
what have you guys been dreaming about lately??
Some might say I've overworked this fisheye shot of City of London skyscrapers. I'd probably have to agree with them.........
I was aiming for 'dark and foreboding' with this grainy monochrome but I think it's ended up 'noisy and murky'.

From Wikipedia : "The City of London is a city and county within London. It constituted most of London from its settlement by the Romans in the 1st century AD to the Middle Ages, but the agglomeration has since grown far beyond the City's borders. The City is now only a tiny part of the metropolis of London, though it remains a notable part of central London. Administratively, it forms one of the 33 local authority districts of Greater London; however, the City of London is not a London borough, a status reserved for the other 32 districts (including London's only other city, the City of Westminster).
The City of London is widely referred to simply as the City (differentiated from the phrase "the city of London" by capitalising City) and is also colloquially known as the Square Mile, as it is 1.12 sq mi (2.90 km2) in area. Both of these terms are also often used as metonyms for the United Kingdom's trading and financial services industries, which continue a notable history of being largely based in the City. The name London is now ordinarily used for a far wider area than just the City. London most often denotes the sprawling London metropolis, or the 32 London boroughs, in addition to the City of London itself. This wider usage of London is documented as far back as 1888, when the County of London was created."

The choice was too difficult! Part of Handel's Messiah ( which is my all time fave music) or Royal Mail's Agatha Christie's stamp tribute. Apologies if I've overworked Macro Monday!
I did a little more inking on this and rephotographed it. Think it's improved... Hopefully not overworked!
but who wouldn't be? Copenhagen central Railway Station is perhaps the most passenger-unfriendly railways station I've seen, and that includes some hard core ones!
No central Departures screen and the local ones don't always work. The lady in the Information booth is overworked and tired. The building is very pretty though

I've worked late every single night this week, and tonight's 8.30pm finish, making a 12 hour day, on a bloody Friday night, just topped it all off. I plan to be acting out this picture for real very soon.
Still, at least it's over now. Next week should be a lot easier as there is now a code freeze.. should is the word though...
PS Yes I am still making my way through the Thursday Next books - on the 4th one now :)
I wasn’t terribly happy with a similar submission of this image having overworked the processing slightly to gain more detail whereas in hindsight I preferred how it looked just as I had seen it through the viewfinder which tends to wash out colours in strong sunlight. I have to remind myself occasionally that I wouldn’t have taken the shot in the first place if I wasn’t happy with the light and being overly concerned with detail is maybe an unnecessary habit of mine at times.
- This was the moment when the early morning mist cleared whilst on Exmoor and I realised I was being eyeballed by a lone sheep, well at least I hope it was a sheep!
Thank you for passing by :)

My final stop on my tour of Anglesey was South Stack. By the time I left my last location I was fairly fed up with the way my day had gone and I was ready to turn around and head home. I pulled in somewhere for a drink and I wondered down a footpath, from the cliff top I could see South Stack lighthouse and I knew I had get closer and get a shot. I headed over, made some dinner and started shooting. I was very happy when I managed to capture this shot, in my opinion it made the rest of the day worth while.
This shot is an HDR of 4 shots, well I say its an HDR I did it manually rather than using any HDR software, I prefer working with layers in Photoshop as I do not have much luck with HDR images. I have spent quite a while on this shot and I am not sure if it looks overworked, I would like to know your thoughts.
Your favourites and comments are always very appreciated.
A large portion of Canada is still being ravaged by vast wildfires. We currently have volunteer firefighters from the United States, France, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand helping the overworked and exhausted Canadian firefighters in trying to control these fires. For all this international help, we are, of course, grateful.
And in times like this, the conspiracy theorists have come out of the woodwork, some suggesting that these fires have been deliberately set by climate activists trying to make a point for their cause. This claim is, of course, completely stupid.
When all is said and done, humanity's detrimental activity on the climate has more than likely contributed greatly to these destructive wildfires. When the second largest country in the world is on fire from coast to coast to coast, it is cause for concern for every other country. The firefighters will ultimately win this battle against these fires and get them under control and extinguished... this time. Each time is only going to get harder.

Must have been a good omen as it was a great trip.

I regret not trying the 'Bottomless Bubbly' for $20 that they did from 8 to 10 PM.

Christian Testimonies | Spiritual Awakening of a “White Angel” (Part 2)
Introduction
I am a retired obstetrics and gynecology attending physician. Most of my life was spent in an overworked void. I racked my brains to pursue status, fame and fortune and was unscrupulous in my efforts to make money, busy rushing around for several decades. I even betrayed my own conscience and personality and lost my humanity and rationality, living without any meaning. Until one day when I read the word of Almighty God and saw the truth that I had been corrupted by Satan I gradually had a spiritual awakening….
