We thought we should go down to the lake for a calm picknic... Unfortunately it seemed like EVERYONE else had the same idea :-)
As this train passed me at Tehachapi, my railwaymans senses thought I had seen it all as there were plenty of weird unhealthy noises, flat tyres, oval tyres etc visible as it passed, all of which would have seen it stopped in the UK, then this came along !
Clearly bulging and sagging I would say this wagon is well overloaded. Of course not being an expert on American Railroad loadings I am not qualified to say for sure, but it certainly doesn't look right.
As overloaded and defective wagons feature prominently in the frequent train derailment in the States I can now understand why.
