The first sign of light was followed by many oohs and awwwws. It was surreal to think that we were above the clouds. I felt like I was on another planet.

Artist Statement
The gallery context acts as a catalyst to subvert preconceptions. Its not essential to the existence of art, but a useful tool in bringing our attention to the origins of creativity. I try to work with the space, feel it's energy, be inspired and provoke a response from the viewer. The presentation of material which is not normally considered in the realms of high art forces people to re-examine their ideas about art, and can alter their perception in general. Art is everywhere. I come from the position that everyone is an artist and everything is potentially art. Although there is definitely an element of 'taking the piss' or challenging the status quo in my work, I do this with a view to moving forward. A kind of letting go and starting anew. I would challenge my viewers to forget, and begin to believe their eyes!
