Outbreak of noctilucent clouds, seen in Austria (48° North) on July 5, 2020.
At an altitude of ~80 kilometers, noctilucent clouds are the highest clouds in Earth's atmosphere. Therefore, they are still illuminated by sunlight even when the ground and the lower atmosphere is already dark. The details of the formation of these high clouds are still not fully understood.

I was a very happy photographer on this day :)
Another type of scene I have always aspired to shoot one day - check!

1.
what is madness
is it an outbreak of dawn, a wild blood sun
killing this night
this touch less night
it is the wale of a full moon
over the breast of a homeless mother
or the shriek of stars
witnessing murder
to risk living
you encounter madness
broad based and picking its teeth
the insane sigh
and pull you to their chest
sometimes, you must stop breathing
to leave them
and leaving the insane
is again, madness
a run towards orchids
blooming in a field of broken glass
a terrain too dangerous to walk over
and running doesn't avoid the danger
but then, this is
the risk of living
the blood letting among flowers
2.
what is madness
a cacophony of voices
in our armpits
hurling us into stillness
banging our heads with memory
i remember when small
the voices were crystals
easy to hold and pray to
at night they were bells
listening to the wind in my breath
when small
the voices taught me how
to ride my bike down steep hills
how to turn sharp corners
the voices made me
laugh at the dark
and the darkened places
kept the voices hidden
from pointing fingers
of mommy
she – wanted to know
who i was talking with
she wanted to know
why I sang even when
daddy was drunk
beyond a reason
being here
she wanted to know
what allowed me to sleep
the middle of her crying
and why i never awoke with tears of my own
the voices
I never told mommy about the voices
and how they whispered me
into dancing to the edge of everything
how they hummed
as i curtsied for the old ladies
and kissed the sunken cheeks
of old men
how at times they riddled me
to a windowsill, or a bridge
or a razor, or daddy's whiskey
but just for fun
just to see me dance to
and away from another edge
the voices are such testers
when small, i never thought of failing
3.
now, tapping
behind my ears awakening
too many pieces
the voices are rivalry
jarring, rampant
between my fingers
between my toes
i hear them
even as i run towards the orchids
i hear them
belittling my escape
4.
what is madness
a seagull impaled on a fence
a cat walking into a river
a baby sucking needles in the center of a room
rain beating holes into the eyes of a dead dog
when did the voices
become
so diseased and angry
and whose strength do they use
to carry us to such unfamiliar place
they can pull triggers
they can throw us off rooftops
they can split us into uneven halve
whose strength do they use
6.
a man i know
is fighting these mutant voices
he is scraping them from his walls
dragging them from under his bed
somehow they have read
his books and his mind
they quote his fears
hear them, whose strength do they use
hear them, whose strength do they use
they are charging up this man's back with swords
an army paranoid of his every blink
they bulge his eyes
see them, whose strength do they use
the voices are taking this man's dark brown skin
and stretching it across his memory .
he stands before himself like a crucifix
his palms showing the lines of too much and too many
a mother, two fathers, three brothers,
two sisters, two daughters, one son, two wives,
three college degrees, no job
i hear this man shouting at the voices
a cacophony of his own
a litany of statistics
of dark brown women and men
the number on ships
the number killed by whips
the number in chains,
the number swung from ropes
the numbers, every number heavy in his throat
a malignant phlegm
i've seen this man try
and inch his skin away from the voices
seen him count the spots of light
left by other dark skins
and carry this number as if a
candle to his brain
illuminating the horrors
and when he speaks
it is of the women and men
ripped open in front of their mothers
it is of the fathers crippled by
the weight of silence
this man's tongue is thick
with the silence of dark brown fathers
and the voices dare him to speak
dare him to dare
these voices jealous
of this man's 46 unbending years
threaten him with death at any corner
threaten him with the lethal stare of a stranger
7.
what is madness
hot tar cooling on dark brown skin
pickled genitals in a jar
and when we run from these voices
we wish for the wings of eagles, for the grasp of hawks
a caravan of warriors in our sweat
our eyes screaming madness be still
not another dark brown body
will it take, not another
will it take to its rage ridden room
not another foot, tooth, or strand
of tightly coiled hair
this man and i poised against our walls
ready for attack
see us, our skin, our only weapon
8.
what is madness
the smell of orchids stronger than the smell of blood
how many pieces of glass embedded in my feet
i mustn't stop to look
no, i mustn't stop to look
i want these flowers
i want this sweet touch
risking life for beauty
risking sanity for love
a bit of hope covering my wounds
a bit of hope covering my wounds

After attempting to hold the cell door for about a minute and a half, I realized we wouldn't be able to hold it for much longer. "This is hopeless," I grunted. "We're not going to be able to hold this thing for much longer!" "We'll head for the armory then." The officer replied. We let go of the cell door simultaneously and ran for the armory, leaving the infected officer moaning hopelessly in the corner. As soon as we entered the room, the officer ripped a shotgun off of one of the racks and started cramming shells into it. After about a minute of watching him do this, he told me to try to find a weapon to use. I looked around for a minute and settled on an assault rifle and a handgun, grabbed a few magazines, and by the time I was finished, he was already waiting by the back exit. "Let's go," he said impatiently. I quickened my pace towards the exit, and made a silent prayer that I would make it out of the police station alive.

Finally, chapter 4! This was the obvious next step in the plot, (seeing as they had no practical means of fighting the zombies) and it fits well with the development of the storyline. It was also about time we used Brickarms :P
This moment of the storyline is (obviously) when the officer is putting shells in the shotgun, while the main character stands by and watches. The next one should be pretty exciting :)
They all came today. Around 150 of them surrounded my house within just a couple of minutes. Local news channels had been reporting a minor outbreak of some weird made-up disease for about a month now, but now their cover-up will cost many their lives, possibly mine as well. They came at around 9:30, their constant moans piercing the warm night air. I immediately went to investigate, but soon realized how great of a mistake that was. They immediately started pounding at my front door, actually breaking through the door! The windows were soon to follow, but they seemed to be finding it difficult to climb through. I have no idea where to run or hide at this point. Who knows how many of these savage creatures now roam my town at this point? And even eerier, what if the entire city is under attack by these horrific creatures? Whatever these things are, I am going to have to make a decision quickly before they make it into my house...

This is part one of a new series we're starting called "Outbreak". Keep an eye out for continuations of this series. We'll try to add to the storyline as often as possible, but school will certainly be a road block. We are trying to get more zombie heads as well, so we probably won't be able to post so many chapters until we get more.
Hi guys :)
Here is a shot from earlier this week :)
Never witnessed such a massive display!
5 minutes after this shot was taken the whole sky was completely covered with auroras, almost like a blanket was put upon the sky and there was no definition and structure in the aurora so i headed home :)
Hope you like it :)
Johnny :)
What would you do after the Outbreak? Discover how far your character will go to survive as you loot the dead, fight infected, scavenge for supplies...
I woke up the next morning to the sound of the radio. It reminded me of waking up in my own house to the same sound before the outbreak. Except the radio I heard now was just static. As I sat up, I saw Zac sitting in the corner next to the radio trying to tune in to a frequency. "I just heard it a couple seconds ago," He said under his breath. "Heard what?" I asked in return. "A survivor. That means we might not be alone out here." Zac went back to his work, and I watched on in interest. Then suddenly, a voice was heard. "Hello? Hello? Is anyone there?" the voice said. Zac picked up the radio and said, "Yeah, we're here. Just two of us hiding out in an apartment complex downtown. Where are you?" After a couple seconds the voice replied, "What?!? You're still in the city? Get out now before it's too late! Didn't you hear about the nukes? The president ordered the bombing of LA after everyone was evacuated to get rid of the zombies. You better get out as soon as possible since the launch happens tomorrow!" Zac and I looked at each other for a second, each of us with the same expression: panic. Zac dropped the radio and ran out of the room. "Here, take this," he said, shoving a gun into my hands. "We've gotta go now." In compliance I grabbed my things and followed Zac out to the fire escape. In our haste to get out, we had forgotten about one thing. We forgot about the zombies themselves. As soon as we got outside we realized the entire fire escape was surrounded by zombies. We both immediately began firing into the crowd to clear a path. A couple minutes later, we finished clearing the fire escape and got down into the alley. "Let's go before more come," I said. Nodding his head, Zac lead the way out to the street. Our only hope now was that we could get out of the city alive.

We carefully opened the back door to the police station, hoping no "zombies" would spot us. Fortunately our presence went unnoticed, and we hurried into an alleyway across the street. As we continued down the alleyway, we became much less cautious. That was a nearly fatal mistake. A zombie lunged out from behind a dumpster and almost grabbed my arm. I was fortunate enough to see it coming and managed to leap out of the way. I immediately fired two shots into the zombie's head, and it fell to the ground. "You idiot!" the officer yelled at me. "You just let every zombie in this area know where we are!" "Oh," I replied rather pathetically. "Get your weapon loaded," he said. I immediately grabbed a magazine out of my backpack and loaded it. "Be on the lookout....they could attack at any moment." the officer warned me. Then, as if on cue, about twenty zombies began to charge us. We both started to fire into the mob. Almost all of our bullets hit them, but I noticed that only my shots that hit their heads actually dealt a killing blow. "Aim for the heads!" I yelled over the sound of moaning zombies and gunfire. "It's the only shot that'll kill them!" We both immediately adjusted our tactics and aimed for the heads. Five minutes later we were surrounded by a pile of unmoving bodies, all riddled with bullets. I had used up about two and a half magazines of ammunition, while the officer only used about three fourths of one. I really need to work on my aim.

This honestly should have been posted long time ago. It was about 85% finished three days ago, and we never got around to finishing it until last night. Anyways, enjoy :)
Unfortunately Brian (MONKEYxDC) got turned into a zombie though.
Just shockingly amazing... It was a crazy lightning show tonight around the East Bay! This was around Livermore, CA at the parking lot areas of the San Francisco Premium Outlets. Talk about crazy weather lately for this month of September so far... (Monday evening, September 11, 2017)
Weather update - Unusual thunderstorm outbreak for California for the week of (2017) September 10:
A slow-moving cut-off low pressure area was setting up off the SoCal coast & has the potential to bring some very active weather to parts of the state over the next 5 days. On Monday & Tuesday, the storm threat was to shift northward from SoCal to encompass the rest of Cali including the Bay Area.
It all started with strong wind gusts between 35-50 mph that roared thru Monterey County and parts of the South Bay in the early morning hours. Later, temps climbed to the 90s in San Jose. Then finally came the rain, thunder & lightning. The NWS tweeted out that the Bay Area saw more than 800 lightning strikes & cloud flashes between noon and 5 p.m.! About 7,000 flashes lit up the sky across the Bay Area Monday night along with CG strikes. In an unusual display of meteorological madness, Mother Nature had doused parts of the Bay Area with brief heavy rain Monday night & zapped some spots with lightning while leaving other areas untouched. A low-pressure area hanging out over the Pacific had delivered the t-storms, which rumbled thru the Bay Area starting in the late afternoon & early evening in the South Bay and later moved northward towards SF. While this weather may have seemed weird, NWS meteorologist Anna Schneider, said it’s only a tad unusual. “We’re starting to approach that time of year when this kind of weather is more common,” she said. The t-storms were forecast to stick around thru Tuesday night. Temps were expected to drop Tuesday then start warming up again once the t-storms depart. Warmer, drier weather was expected to return to the region by the upcoming weekend...
"Into the night
The city lights are dancing
Slowly falling apart
The shadows causing an outbreak
I’m wishing upon a star
This time I’m feeling stronger
And I know I can do better
The shadows causing an outbreak
And turning the lights on"
The Oakville Lifecare Centre was a hospital for most of its life before turning into a nursing home. In 2002 during the SARS outbreak it yet again became a fully functional hospital to help with the outbreak and the seniors were moved out of the facility. The government had considered using it as a quarantine location for the victims of the outbreak but this never happened. The hospital was later demolished 2012, shortly after this photo was taken.
This is an appropriate time to be posting this location considering the current predicament where we find ourselves.
Remember stay strong and we will get through this.
Please by all means make sure you are following the current social distancing protocols.

The Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore (English: Church of the Most Holy Redeemer), commonly known as Il Redentore, is a 16th-century Roman Catholic church located in the Dorsoduro sestiere of the Italian city of Venice. It was designed by the architect Andrea Palladio and built as a votive church to thank God for the deliverance of the city from a major outbreak of the plague. Located on the waterfront of the Canale della Giudecca, it dominates the skyline of the island of Giudecca. It is a member of the Chorus Association of Venetian churches and contains a number of paintings by artists including Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese and Francesco Bassano.

After a few close calls back in the sporting goods store, I was relieved by the prospect of rejoining Brian and Amy; at least then I would have someone to watch my back.
I felt a buzz in my pocket. I pulled out my phone and found a message from Amy on the screen:
Amy: moved car, starting to see z’s. meet in lot by corner store. less crowded
She could have been a little more descriptive, but I was pretty sure I knew where she was talking about. She must not have had as much trouble as I did and finished early. When I made it to the lot Brett and Amy were already there waiting for me, but they weren’t alone.
“Brett, get your ass over here! It’s time to go,” Brian yelled at me as he picked off an approaching zombie with his bow.
“There are a lot more coming from the other lot,” explained Amy. “We better hurry up and get packed and out of here before they show up...”
Amy’s voice trailed off as she looked over my shoulder.
“Brett, we gotta go. They’re getting close,” she said with increased urgency.
I turned around and saw about a dozen or so zombies closing in, with more in the distance following behind.
“Come on you two, finish up and let’s get going! Amy, you drive. Here are the keys,” Brian said as he tossed the keys to Amy. “Brett, just throw it in there and let’s go!”
As he finished his sentence the door to the corner store swung open and about a dozen more zombies started filing out.
“Amy, I thought you said you checked this store!”
“It looked fine from the outside!”
“Just get the car started, ok! Brett, grab your gun, we need to clear these guys before they surround the car.”
Brian nocked an arrow and aimed it at the closest zombie, nailing it right between the eyes. I grabbed my rifle and started firing into the crowd as they poured out the door. The roar of the engine startled me as Amy started the car.
“You’re not gonna be able to clear them all, you guys! Just get in and I’ll get us through.”
The zombies crept closer and closer from both sides…
“They’re too close, Amy! We gotta get rid of them or we’ll just be stuck in the car,” Brian replied, an edge to his voice.
I continued to fire into the crowd, but I soon heard the click of an empty magazine. I reached for another in my pocket, but realized I had packed the rest of the ammunition in the trunk. I looked over at Brian and saw he was on his last few arrows.
“Brian, we don’t have a choice, we have to go, now. I’m out,” I said, gesturing to my rifle.
Brian looked at me, back at the approaching crowd of zombies, and back at the car.
“Alright, let’s get out of here,” he said as he fired his last arrow at a zombie trying to crawl on the roof of the car.
We hopped in the car and Amy floored it.
