The UK has an outbreak of bird flu at the moment so the flamingos weren't allowed out and I could only glimpse them through a window. It was a bit like 2020 all over again.
With the coronavirus outbreak many people's lives have been impacted. And by being forced to stay home without the opportunity to go out to take photos I have plenty of time to look at my old photos. I will confess that this photo was not taken during the COVID-19 lock-down. It was just a cold March Sunday morning in Providence, Rhode Island. Yet i think right now that's how it would look like with pretty much everybody staying home. Empty streets, empty sidewalks, a ghost city. it feels like you could scream and nobody would listen...

This was by far the most spectacular mammatus display I've ever seen in my entire life.
After an exciting chase on 04.04.2018 we stopped next to Leipzig (Saxony) to shoot some lightnings on a backside of a thunderstorm.
After the sun went down low-hanging mammatus clouds began to shine in red and blue. I was just speechless, as I only saw such displays on photos from USA and was not expecting to see it in Germany.
As a bonus a small lightning found its way to the photo.
Simply EPIC!

Das war mit Abstand das schönste Mammatus Display, was ich je in meinem Leben gesehen habe.
Am 04.04.2018 haben wir uns nach einem recht spannenden Chasing bei Leipzig (Sachsen) positioniert um Blitze an einem abziehenden Gewitter zu fotografieren.
Als die Sonne hinterm Horizont verschwand fingen tiefhängende Mammatus Wolken blau und rot zu leuchten. Ich konnte meinen Augen nicht trauen,
denn so etwas kannte ich bisher nur aus den USA in Verbindung mit sehr starken und isolierten Gewittern.
Als Zugabe hat sich sogar ein kleiner Blitz auf dem Foto blicken lassen.
Einfach EPISCH!

After the successful Normandy Beach Landings, the Allies spread throughout France taking back the many towns and cities into the hands of France. Many of the German soldiers were on their highest guard as they moved to a more defensive area.
Well, I've been busy with this for the past few months previously to SME collab at BFVA and its finally done, so here you go. This is a little town the Germans were stuck in as they waited for their tank to be fix.
More World War I content in the works so stay tuned.

In recent years this woodpecker has undergone a marked decline in the UK. Numbers peaked during the outbreak of Dutch elm disease, but today this attractive bird has become a local rarity, disappearing from many sites where it was once common.
Its North American equivalent is the downy woodpecker, which is of similar size and colouration.

"Since the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine in February of this year, the photographer Mykhaylo Palinchak (*1985) has been documenting his homeland’s destruction and the attendant impacts on those who live there. His pictures of apartment complex ruins, the dead and survivors, people on the run, and those who have remained provide an impactful impression of this war’s immediate consequences.
The ALBERTINA Museum is showing 40 recent war photographs by Palinchak, whose work has dealt repeatedly with incisive political developments in Ukraine, in juxtaposition with Goya’s Los Desastres de la Guerra. Just like Palinchak's photography, Goya’s early 19th-century depictions of war from the collection of the ALBERTINA document the universal brutality of wartime events and the suffering of the civilian populace.
The exhibition is on view from 24 May until 21 August 2022."
