I've never seen any description or discussion of this intensely cool feature in OSX. You will have to click the "All Sizes" button above to appreciate it.

Buried in the Keyboard Shortcuts tab of the Keyboard & Mouse system preferences pane is the "Look up in Dictionary" shortcut which, when enabled, toggles on and off a dictionary(and thesaurus) popup on top of whatever word the cursor is over.

I came across this the other day while in a pub offering free wireless :)

My desktop as of this afternoon... OSX 10.5.4 Leopard.

This gets me through my day at work!

My retail copy of OS X 10.4 "Tiger" along with the Upgrade version from the Mac OS X Up-To-Date program

I modified the Adium icon to look more like the iChat icon, and the only reason that I have the input menu icon up there is because my girlfriend can never remember the key combitation to switch to QWERTY from my normal Dvorak.

Debug Panel for the Mac App Store, enabled through Terminal with the command "defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true" as written here: www.red-sweater.com/blog/1586/the-mac-app-store-debug-menu . Bonus points for the Fake Server Location :-)

A icon for a notebook application for OSX.

These are the items permanently kept in my dock. The dock looks significantly different when I'm actively working (Xcode, Photoshop, etc are usually open). I would also prefer Tweetie didn't take up a spot in the dock.

PS.我的notebook是PPC Mac,OSX 10.4.9.使用Arduino007.

being a long time mac user i just had to see osx on a regular pc :)

Spent the day playing with my mac cause ive been sick and laid up in bed. Cusotmized prettymuch everything here. I might switch my system font to regular helvetica instead of condensed buuut we'll see :). Answering any questions you may have. Just ask!

Icon for the small OS X utility Romeo turns your SonyEricsson mobile phone to bluetooth remote for your Mac. This app cool cause you don't have to install any software to your phone at all it works with your application like with phone accessories.

I've made two different color scheme for the icon, personally i like black one.

I enjoyed looking at other people's desktops and widgets, so I thought I'd share my own.

...are working on my MacBook.

The desktop on my new 15" HD-DL PowerBook. even 1440x950 isnt enough room for me, but the 17" PBs are just way too big to be portable, so im stuck with a small desktop and massive window shading and expose abuse.

this is the clean version, dirty version here.

too much crap in here to list. any questions just ask.

I spent the better part of my last ten years online furiously filing away every single message into a mess of folders. Then I looked over ubergeek Rael Dornfest's shoulder a couple years ago at Etech. He left everything in his inbox and just used Mac Entourage's various views to quickly see unread, which ones mentioned a certain subject line, and which ones were addressed to certain accounts. It was an inbox of a bazillion messages, but quickly and easily converted to a custom view.

I adopted this approach when going to Entourage on my first powerbook in 2002 but it ran so slow I eventually quit and moved to Mail. I kept the same organizational zen with Mail, even on my second powerbook. Everything goes in the inbox and stays in the inbox, and search is used to find old messages or suss out threads. Sounds crazy, but it works and I never have to sweat my filters or make new folders or jump from folder to folder all day. I seriously used to waste 30 minutes a day just tweaking Eudora back in the late 90s. But this is: Just One Inbox.

Simple.

My current Mail inbox has 39,803 messages, essentially going back to spring of 2003 when I switched to Mail. That number doesn't include any spam and is mostly work related private list mail. I basically use the unread flag as most filter-happy people use their inbox -- the unreads are my todo list and as they get read I either do something immediately (which includes ignoring til later or never) or I flag if necessary. Of course, this means I basically have a window on my email that only goes back about a day conveiniently, after that it requires searches or a jump to all flagged messages for keeping track of special "come back later" mails.

My wishlist for the upcoming Mail in Tiger is that is gets back to being a lean, mean, fast app (with 39k messages it takes about 3 minutes to start up), and it really needs a stronger search that would let me search on multiple criteria. I would love to be able to do a search like "find me all mail from a coworker with a certain domain in their address that sent me an attachment that also included the word "tax" somewhere in the message body." which Eudora did just fine for me, 8 years ago or so.

C'mon apple, get with the times.

Usualy not as clean as here, but most of the time yes. I try to keep my desktop organazized. You men organized? No! Organazized, it's a joke ;)

I like keeping my virtual workspace as clean as possible, even though my actual workspace is a train wreck. :P

Yeah, it's the new iPhone. read it and weep!

Photo Desktop rules.

Yay for cross-platform code! Lic needed just a one line change to get it running on OSX.

There's still some OSX-specific issues to work out (different font sizing, odd rendering artifacts, atrocious performance), but I'll get an OSX app bundle posted soon.

Huge props to Allen Smith & his Bricksmith, for making it super easy for OSX users to get up & running with LDraw. Great sample model too! :)

And then there's Mail and Colloquy on the powerbook's own display :-)

Desktop SS for the lifehacker pool. My new 15" HD-DL Powerbook. Unfortunately even 1440x950 isnt enough. I need more ram too (>_<)

Crashed video poster outside a theatre near Leicester Square. It appears that they're using a Mac running OSX (perhaps a Mac Mini?)

it doesn't get easier than this. it was like moving everything exactly as is into a bigger house. one more reason not to switch from a mac!

DEVONagent and DEVONthink Pro has two of the coolest icons in the OS X world. They are very different and still very much in the same family. I like the colors, the texture, the shapes, the patterns. And the apps are excellent too.

This is my new toy. A 2005 12in PowerBook. I use this machine to do everything. Don't know what I would do without it.
