This is a snapshot of my current desktop on my ibook. I finished a project, so I felt like taking a random picture.
Don't miss the animated smileys...

I switched to Mac recently due to my dying Windows laptop. Even though the new OS did alienated me for a while I got the hang of it soon after.
There is so many thing to tweak on the already appealing desktop. So after hours of tweaking around some tools found on lifehacker and this awesome flickr community I found my desktop :)

It's been a while since I posted a shot of my desktop, so here it is. Notes where applicable, desktop image from interfacelift.com, icons from iconfactory.com.

I've decided to stop this game of needless acquisition and to start simplifying my life — my job, my possessions, my workspace and my thoughts.
I start a new job doing something very different next week, and I've decided to take the same reasoning and apply it to the rest of my life. Silly consumerism no more. I've been caught in that loop for too long and I've realised that its ways seem counterproductive. I'm selling most everything I own and trying to pare back to 100 possessions.
I've tried to move my setup into being as open and free as I can without compromising my productivity, which has led me to being able to use free (as in speech or as in beer) software for nearly all of my tasks except for Adobe Creative Suite. In doing so, I've also been able to pare down my laptop's hard drive space requirements to a 60GB SSD.
The dock on the bottom is usually hidden away.

Haven't remembered to screenshot my desktop in forever. Alas, what we have missed! So, it looks on here like I've had 3 Star Wars ones in a row, but that is far from the case. Still, here's another Star Wars desktop. LOL.
I am not sure this was really meant to be a wallpaper, but I'm using it as one. It's here: www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70518.0

I've never seen any description or discussion of this intensely cool feature in OSX. You will have to click the "All Sizes" button above to appreciate it.
Buried in the Keyboard Shortcuts tab of the Keyboard & Mouse system preferences pane is the "Look up in Dictionary" shortcut which, when enabled, toggles on and off a dictionary(and thesaurus) popup on top of whatever word the cursor is over.
My retail copy of OS X 10.4 "Tiger" along with the Upgrade version from the Mac OS X Up-To-Date program
I modified the Adium icon to look more like the iChat icon, and the only reason that I have the input menu icon up there is because my girlfriend can never remember the key combitation to switch to QWERTY from my normal Dvorak.
Debug Panel for the Mac App Store, enabled through Terminal with the command "defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true" as written here: www.red-sweater.com/blog/1586/the-mac-app-store-debug-menu . Bonus points for the Fake Server Location :-)
These are the items permanently kept in my dock. The dock looks significantly different when I'm actively working (Xcode, Photoshop, etc are usually open). I would also prefer Tweetie didn't take up a spot in the dock.
