On that day I went up the mountain in the afternoon to photograph in the low light of dusk.
I met this stream of hikers descending, in groups but isolated at the same time.
It's a inusual photo and remains years later, one of my prefer winter photos, it could resemble the cover of a good book.
In ordine sparso

I had a dead deer in the ditch along the road. I hooked up a rope to it and drug it back into the woods with my tractor. The next day the vultures took care of it, but they do have a pecking order and these two were waiting their turn. Turkey Vulture in the front and a Black Vulture in the back. My backyard. Central Bucks, PA.
White-Tailed Deer (female).
From between 27 to 45 inches tall and 6 to 7 feet long and weighing 150-310 pounds (male) and 90 to 211 pounds (female). Tan or reddish brown in summer and graying brown in winter. Belly, throat, nose band, eye ring and inside of ears are white. Tail brown and edged with white above often with a dark stripe down the center and white below. Black spots on side of chin. Buck's antlers can spread to 3 feet. Does rarely have antlers. Fawns are spotted.
The White-Tailed Deer inhabits farmlands, brushy areas, woods, suburbs and gardens.
They range throughtout the southern half of the southern tier of Canadian provinces and through most of the United States except for the Southwest.
Kensington Metropark, Livingston County, Michigan.
American Red Squirrel.
Between 10 5/8 and 15 1/4 inches long. The smallest tree squirrel in its range. Rust-red to grayish red above, brightest on sides; white or grayish-white below. In winter black lines separate reddish back from whitish belly. Tail is similar to back color, but is outlined with broad black band edged with white. In summer its coat is duller. In winter has prominent ear tufts.
They are often abundant in any king of forest: natural coniferous forests, pine plantations, mixed or hardwood forests; often around buildings.
They range throughout much of Alaska and Canada; in the U.S. south through the Rocky Mountain states, in the east south to Iowa, north Illinois, north Indiana, north Ohio, north Virginia and through the Alleghenies.

The song of the Sedge warbler is varied, rushed and chattering, with sweeter phrases and some mimicry, typical of the Acrocephalus warblers. It is composed of phrases in random order, so that it is never the same. Male sedge warblers which have the widest repertoire mate with the largest number of females. (Wikipedia)

Kayla searched for any sign of the Corogins. How could they vanish so quickly? She hadn’t been in the trance that long.
All she could do now was descend to where they had been standing and try to pick up their trail.
Kaszon watched her through his scanner.
Kayla’s heat signature blazed like a beacon against the stone—impossible to miss. She stood on the roof of a building barely a hundred yarons away. But she moved fast. In moments she was off the roof and slipping between structures.
It didn’t matter.
The scanner tracked her heat through the stone as if the walls weren’t there. The Mudag’s electric motors hummed softly as it glided through the labyrinth of the Core complex, angling to intercept her.
Kayla reached the spot where the Corogin group had paused. Dusty footprints marked the street in chaotic patterns. She crouched, trying to decipher them. The trail split—two directions, two possibilities.
Which way?
As she leaned closer, an energy beam tore past her head, scorching the wall beside her. Stone exploded outward.
They were behind her.
She sprinted around the corner, breath ragged, voices closing in. The thin air burned her lungs. Another shot sizzled past, close enough to feel its heat exploding the side of another structure.
Then her stomach dropped.
She had run into a blind alley. A dead end!
Walls rose sheer on all sides. No open doors. No ladders. No escape.
She spun, desperate, searching for anything—any crack, any ledge. Behind her, three Corogins advanced on foot, and the Mudag rumbled into view, rounding the corner..
Kayla froze, out of breath, helpless.
In slow, dreadful motion, the Mudag slid into position, blocking the only exit. Its weapon swiveled toward her, locking on. One of the Corogins yelled “HALT”
She had moments to live.

It's been an unusual and not particularly pleasing winter in the Northwoods, marked by too much cold and not enough snow, but yesterday the gods offered a perfect day for an extensive wander...which was fully utilized for that purpose. After finally receiving a fresh snowfall of about 6 inches and enduring a week of bitter cold, the morning sun and temps rising to around freezing made for ideal hiking conditions. Made even more irresistible by the forecast for freezing rain (which is happening as I write this) and a plunge back below 0F by tomorrow.
Ah, but yesterday was exhilarating, the scenes by now familiar, but always different nonetheless. The full tour of my peninsula was accomplished, concluding at this small pond which occupies the very tip before returning home. Beyond the far tree line, you can make out the big lake which surrounds 3/4 of the land area, my smaller lake the other 1/4. What you unfortunately cannot make out is the call of the chickadees which was the only sound heard throughout the course of the afternoon...a most pleasant accompaniment.

It was on a beautiful spring day in April when I encountered it, the royal bird of the forests in Switzerland. It had always fascinated me, the beautiful bird with the blue feathers, but photographing him is a completely different matter because he is clever, very clever. Every time the jay came near me, he immediately recognized when I wanted to photograph him and flew away. I only had seconds to focus on the bird, and then he was gone again. To my happiness and great astonishment, I suddenly saw the jay in front of me in a wooded area where he was flying around. After a while, the beautiful bird perched on a branch where he remained for some time. I finally had the opportunity to photograph the busy bird well, without any rush. I soon realized that they were a pair searching for each other. In this sense, I was able to enjoy these two, who were more concerned with themselves than with someone like me, who had been trying for so many years to somehow photograph this clever bird. Patience sometimes pays off, even if it requires special circumstances. Being in the right place at the right time is the order of the day...
The clearest way into the universe is through the wilderness of the forest.

Like this song but it makes me so sad that we can not live in peace with each other. It brings tears to my eyes. Yuval Raphal has such a beautiful voice. THIS WAS IN REFERENCE TO THE OCTOBER 7TH MASSACRE AS SHE SAID AT THE END OF THE SONG!! THE MUSIC VIDEO MAKES REFERENCE TO THAT!! SHE SURVIVED AND PUT OUT AN AMAZING SONG!
THIS IS TRULY POWERFUL!!
Beelitz Heilstätten was a lung sanatorium, built between 1898 and 1930 by the Berlin State Insurance Institution. It is one of the largest hospital complexes in the Berlin area and consists of an ensemble of 60 buildings on a total area of approximately 200 ha.
This image is from the house C of the sanatorium for men and is located south of the railroad station. Unfortunately, all buildings are nearly empty meanwhile.

Palpatine's treacherous act would have caught me as unaware as it had so many others, if not for a prearranged warning triggered by the death of my master, Mace Windu. But even with this costly warning, escaping Jedi Headquarters will require all my skills and training.
The Blue Faced honeyeaters frequent our garden every day, sometimes several times in the day. I often an waiting for them to arrive to snap an image of them. They are a little shy and difficult to get a good image.

In an ever-shifting world a new order shall rise. The economy shall thrive and the people's work and routine shall not be compromised. Ruling with an iron fist, our allies will know mutual cooperation and our enemies shall know true fear in the face of mighty firepower and resolve. We shall suffer no fools, and put our country's needs before any international organizations, for that is true power and the way to prosper without the world on our shoulders (keep it goin' US & Japan you both are in better positions then you were 4 years ago)
This is a comical shot, this is definitely what Japan's highest legislative council is like and I will not be convinced otherwise. It looks like it shouldn't exist, but it does. And believe it or not, I finally have something to talk about concerning Fushimi Inari for the first time in a long while. There's a pathway out of the mountain and down the north side to the entrance. There aren't many toriis down this path but there was a handful of more unique subjects to shoot, this being one of the better examples. There was an overhang casting a shadow over the back rows. It kinda looks like a 70s fantasy production set.
Thankfully, the lower highlights made it a lot easier to edit the subjects which did have the light it needed. After giving nearly every fox (or cat I'm not sure) a different level of clarity I drained the textures on the walls in the back and gave the torii more light but not enough to make it stand out. For how silly the concept of this shot is, it surprisingly works really well and I don't know why, it's got all the components of a more professional shot.
Monterey at the California coast is always a treat to visit. We went for dinner at the Inn at Spanish Bay, an upscale resort and golf course.
I processed a balanced, and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
