nrhp # 74000327- The Larkin Covered Bridge stands a short way north of the village center of North Tunbridge, on Larkin Road a short way east of its junction with Vermont Route 110. It is a single-span multiple kingpost truss structure, 68 feet (21 m) long and 16 feet (4.9 m) wide, with a 13-foot (4.0 m) roadway (one lane). It rests on abutments of stone and concrete, and is covered by a metal roof. Its side walls are made of vertical board siding and have no openings. The portal ends and the interiors of the portals are also finished in vertical board siding. Although the trusses are set to form a rectangle, the portals are slightly skewed, giving the bridge a parallelogram shape on the outside.[2]

The bridge was built in 1902, and is one of only two documented early 20th-century bridges in the state; the other is the Kingsbury Covered Bridge in nearby Randolph, built in 1904. The bridge is one of five in Tunbridge, which, when combined with one in Chelsea, form a remarkably dense concentration of covered bridges across a single waterway in the state.

Brief blue skies. An hour later the sky would blacken and boom and rip apart and all the water of the heavens would fall at once. For nine minutes. Maybe ten. Enough to flood the cul de sac and do some more hill erosion for sure.

We've got flash flood warnings for the next 24 hours. Luckily I've got Ray on DVD -- gotta prepare for an Oscar party on Sunday.

Going out with the boyfriend.

California, United States - August 2016

A female Belted Kingfisher in flight with its long uneven rattle like call over Oso Reservoir RSM, CA 8-6-15. This is one of only a handful of North American birds where the female has more panache than the male. Somewhat of a challenging bird to nab in flight. Swift and at times unapproachable before it takes off in the opposite direction. I was on a ridge in a wide open area where this Kingfisher traveled back and forth for a good 5 minutes. The right camera settings were key in obtaining this photo Manual mode, F6.3, 1/1600th ISO 400, AI Servo

nrhp # 81000411- The New York State Armory was built in 1880[1] on Broadway in Newburgh, New York, United States. Designed by John A. Wood, it housed a local unit of the New York National Guard.

In the 1930s the Guard moved to a newer armory on South William Street and the old building fell vacant and became property of the city. It was nearly gutted by fire in the 1970s but remained standing, an eyesore in Newburgh's Lower Broadway area.[2]

In 1981 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, which helped prevent its demolition. It also became one of over 2,000 contributing properties to the East End Historic District when that was added to the Register four years later.

Nothing was done to refurbish it until the late 1990s, when the city sold it to Orange County for a dollar and the county's former courthouse. The county brought in Robert Carchietta's Gemma Development to restore it. The project won the Commissioner's Annual Private Sector Achievement Award from Bernadette Castro, then-commissioner of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.[3] The company spent $28,000 on a mahogany door for the building, which now houses the busy city office of the county's Social Services department, as well as its probation officers and the district attorney.

Most people do not know I was with the same guy for 11 years. He had a California Bungalow in Buena Park. I have many fond memories of those years. I would go to sleep listening to the nearby trains. At 2 AM a mocking bird would sing the same song every night. There was special perk about living in Buena Park and it was the sweet smell of cookies baking at the nearby Nabisco Plant. My father told me it was recently torn down. That makes me a little bit sad.

Serra Chapel; votive candles and the Blessed Mother.

Parked on the street one day was this beautiful 1939 Mercury convertible! The owner said that his father-in-law brought it brand new and it has been in the family the entire time. It resembles Fords from the same model year but it is just different enough.

Taken one early morning in Southern California.
