A giants flag waving over ORacle PArk with the San Francisco Bay Bridge peering over the park in the background.
Justin Verlander, now 42, has been a Major League pitcher since 2005, and is pitching for the San Francisco Giants this year. He will certainly be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, five years after he retires. He is 9th all-time in strikeouts, and is likely to move up to 8th before the end of this season.
He has had a difficult year with the Giants because the Giants often fail to score many runs when he is pitching. Several times, he has left the game with a lead, but the Giants relievers give up runs so that he either does not get a decision or gets a loss.
I went to tonight's SF Giants game against the Chicago Cubs to see him pitch. Amazingly, the Giants scored 5 runs, while Verlander only gave up two, and the relief pitchers held the lead for the last three innings. So a win for the Giants and Verlander.
These images were taken in the first inning during three different pitches. The net between the field and the seats make it difficult to take good photos, but I like these three, particularly the one showing the ball in midair.
I used my 2014 Lumix ZS40 travel zoom for these images. It's still a very good camera for photos like this.
