Climbing is hard!

Opus One is opulent and rich in history. It is the merger between Baron Von Rothchild and Robert Mondavi. They make only one wine each year, just like the french, and just label it "Red Wine." It is supposed to be the best blend possible each year ... and they are as scientific about producing the most "perfect wine" as posible.

This is their wine cellar. Huge. The red coloration is a combination of wine, 100 proof alcohol and another chemical. It keeps the barrels sanitary AND hides spills. Opus used only new french oak barrels so the wine universally has a creaminess ... although they do vary coupiers so there are sutdle differences in flavor.

Die beiden kunstvoll geschnitzten und vergoldeten Opernstühle aus dem 18. Jahrhundert wurden einst von den Florenzer Medici einer Adelsfamilie in Frankreich geschenkt. Heute dominieren sie das Empfangs- und Besprechungszimmer eines kalifornischen Weinguts. Natürlich nicht irgendeines Weinguts: Das französisch-amerikanische Joint Venture „Opus One“ im Napa Valley hat sich seit seiner Gründung vor drei Jahrzehnten einen erstklassigen Ruf erarbeitet – und darüber hinaus erheblich zur internationalen Wertschätzung der Weine des Napa Valleys beigetragen. Der Anspruch eines Global Players spiegelt sich auch in den restlichen Einrichtungsgegenständen des besagten Salons wider: unmittelbar neben einem der barocken Opernstühle hängt ein Miró, und eine Statue asiatischer Prägung darf auch nicht fehlen.
