In the spirit of #OptOutside, we rode our bikes out to DaVero Farms. In the spirit of Buy Nothing Day, we got free wine and free pizza, and in the spirit of #SonomaStrong, we donated to farmworkers hit hard by the area wildfires.
· Did I take photos of any of that? No, I took photos of bikes. Healdsburg Hotel has a fleet of green Public Bikes, and two other people rode two of them out to the farm.

Bear Hill • Humboldt Trail
One of my favorite place is Upper Bidwell Park.
I named it "Bear Hill" in 2013 when a young bear came charging in our direction, from below. The bear didn't see or smell us, and we were able to run down the trail and hide behind a large boulder.

Knapps Castle was built in 1916 by George Owen Knapp and was destroyed by the forest fire 1940. It is currently a privately owned property that's opened to the public. An Adventure Pass allows you to park on East Camino Cielo & hike your way up to the Castle in the Los Padres National Forest.
Stone Lines - There were so many unique and fascinating stone formations in Vally of Fire, but some of the ones that captured my interest most were the small layers of stone that formed miniature waves across the surface of the rock.
