This is my second gladiola design for spring, in luxurious 16.5mm stonewashed crepe de Chine --- this a different color scheme than the chiffon. Both are painted directly onto the silk as I studied blooms chosen from the local florist. Brilliant lemon yellow overdyed with peach forms the backdrop; coral pink gladiolas contoured with teal add the detail and drama.
One big freckle.
Optimistically I like to think I've gotten a bit of a tan while here in Dahab, despite the common question from Egyptians as to where my colour is. But sometimes I'm not so sure that it's not just the illusion of a tan brought on by the sudden appearance of thousands of freckles. Not so much on my face (my eyelids are the only place on my face that really seems to freckle much), but shoulders, arms, knees, back - basically everywhere exposed to sun.
I guess if freckles are the closest thing I get to a tan, I'll take it.
Poundstretcher can sometimes bring us collectors who like the cheapo side of collecting some nice surprises. Since last year things went a bit pear shaped when they became greedy and started selling older batches of Hot Wheels and Matchbox for the extremely optimistic price of 2.50! And they they have stuck to the pegs with no sign of anyone in charge actually noticing and doing something about it!
My local store has a huge dump bin full of Hot Wheels copies which i've quickly realised are made by Tian Hong Toys as they are exactly the same as whats offered in cheap multi-sets at Smyths Toys. These differ as one they are sold as singles but also they have brightly coloured alloy effect plastic wheels and pullback motor.
At just 69p each expectations should be managed but in all fairness their origins are obvious to see, this being based on a HW Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Casting and paint quality are more than acceptable for its target audience which are young children who will probably play them to the death!

I had a CHOICE. It was lovely when I left the hotel. There were some threatening clouds, but I decided they would blow over. I had to choose between bringing my camera and tripod, or else a raincoat. Bringing the photo gear AND the raincoat is stupid.
I chose to bring the photo gear, since, if I had to choose something, I might as well choose the optimistic thing.
I was wrong.

I'd very optimistically set my alarm for 3:00 AM so I could get to Algonquin and walk in to Wolf Howl pond for sunrise. When I awoke at 3 I checked the weather forecast online and could still hear rain falling so decided to sleep in a bit. 5:00 AM saw me up and out and on my way to the park. God bless the Tim Horton's in Bancroft, Ontario.
I came upon this handsome Bull already being photographed in this patch of wildflowers. I joined in and he seemed quite content to pose for us as he grazed. Another car appeared on the scene but failed to move to the shoulder while watching the Moose. The sound of squealing tires as the next car on the scene narrowly missed colliding with previous arrival was enough to send this bull dashing into the forest.
Please. Please. Please. If you are going to stop to look at wildlife in Algonquin Park get safely off the road before stopping. The road is also used by drivers who are not visiting the park but simply passing through. This includes large transport trucks and large military vehicles. Also, a driver may be too distracted by the moose he/she's just spotted to notice you in the way.

Its grainy, and perhaps not the most stylised i took but i liked how this picture made me question what was happening, what is wrong with her, happy? sad?
