Rwanda’s private sector players are optimistic of business and investment opportunities that will come with Rwanda hosting the upcoming Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF) that will take place during this year’s Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM 2020).
This was revealed today in a breakfast meeting organized by RDB (Rwanda Development Board) and the Private Sector Federation (PSF) to engage members of the private sector on the opportunities that they stand to take advantage of by participating at the CBF.
CBF will bring together between 1,000 to 1,200 business and government leaders from all Commonwealth countries for a dialogue on practical ways to enhance trade and investment.
The forum will be structured around plenary sessions and interactive workshops over three days, and will also facilitate B2G and B2B discussions at the very highest levels, addressing key themes that affect the 54 diverse Commonwealth member nations.
Speaking while making her remarks, Clare Akamanzi, the RDB Chief Executive Officer said:
“I have every confidence that you agree with me that CBF 2020 presents a unique platform for us to market Rwanda as the best destination for investments. Indeed, we look forward to the private sector signing deals and partnerships on projects that will contribute to the sustainable economic growth of our country through profits, jobs, and increasing Rwanda’s exports. Just to give you some context, over 2.4 billion people live within the Commonwealth Marketplace, and this year will see US$ 1 trillion worth of trade realised within the Commonwealth for the very first time. This means that we have a limitless market for our Made in Rwanda products and services and there shouldn’t be reason not to export more quantities to these countries.”

I chose this picture for black and white since I thought that the lack of light from the photo shining onto the face of the cat would suit the photo to fit this idea of the luckiness being present within the photo and the lighting of the photo. I also chose this photo since I thought that the photo contributed the idea that luckiness is this phenomenon that can occur at any time of the day as well as having this idea that the subject can be seen as optimistic as well as having the lighting focusing solely on the cat's face. Some of the compositional techniques that I used within the photo was the rule of thirds to have the cat's face within the top third of the photo in order to get half the cat's face and get the mood to be lucky. I also used simplicity and leading lines from the wood of the desk to have the viewer's attention focus and draw to the cat's and the string its attached on acting as another aspect to focus on the cat's face overall. The process that I had to go through in order to capture this photo was to wait until the sun was completely set to have this darkness within the background with no other light and utilize another light source in order to capture half of the cat's face. I also had to have the camera settings to be at 1/8000 shutter speed while also being at an aperture of 1.8 as well as 320 ISO in order for the photo to have the photo's light be exposed to only capture the partial light that is shining onto the cat while also controlling the motion of the cat within the photo to be clear and optimal for a still life photo. My choices effected the photo by having the contrast give a better contrast to the light that was shining on the cat while also having the shadows decreased in order to really control how strong the light is as it shines on the cat.

A flashback to more optimistic times.... 43316 carries temporary Virgin Trains East Coast branding, applied over the grey Department of Transport operated East Coast.
Virgin Trains East Coast and their partner Stagecoach lost their franchise for this route on 16th May 2018, after failing to earn enough revenue to be viable. A sense of deja vu?!
The last time this route had to be taken back into public ownership was 2009, when National Express had to 'hand back the keys'.
The new 'temporary' franchise is to be known as LNER, and expected to last for up to two years, by when bids for a new private franchise will have been accepted.
Wonder what the LNER livery is going to be, apple green maybe?

Situated at the heart of the Olympiapark in northern Munich, the stadium was built as the main venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics. This included large sweeping canopies of acrylic glass stabilized by steel cables that were used for the first time on a large scale. The idea was to imitate the Alps and to set a counterpart to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, held during the Nazi regime. The sweeping and transparent canopy was to symbolize the new, democratic and optimistic Germany. This is reflected in the official motto: "The Happy Games" ("Die Heiteren Spiele").

Until the construction of the Allianz Arena for the 2006 World Cup, the stadium was home to Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich. Today, the Olympiastadion holds 69,250.

Just to give you some context, over 2.4 billion people live within the Commonwealth Marketplace, and this year will see US$ 1 trillion worth of trade realised within the Commonwealth for the very first time. This means that we have a limitless market for our Made in Rwanda products and services and there shouldn’t be reason not to export more quantities to these countries.”
Robert Bapfakulera, the PSF Chairman said:

To achieve this, the private sector must be fully prepared to optimise the Commonwealth trade opportunity-for business, investment and trade. CHOGM 2020 will take place in Kigali from 22nd to 28thJune and will have four main forums which are Commonwealth Business, People’s, Women and Youth forums.

The Chair of the UN panel on climate change has told us that he is optimistic that a change in public opinion will lead to a breakthrough at the Copenhagen climate summit. Dr Rajendra Pachauri also said reductions in emissions can be made without compromising economic output. We put a series of reader's questions to him prior to his appearance with Paul McCartney at the "Less Meat = Less Heat" debate in the Parliament's Chamber on Thursday (3 December) which called for people to eat less meat.

It's easy! In the bottom part of the screen containing the picture you will see an icon with a downward pointing arrow above a horizontal like - it's on the far right of 4 icons.
Click on that far right icon, and you'll see options of different sizes to download. FOR BEST QUALITY, be sure to use the "Original" option.
On pictures with high resolution, you WILL see a better looking image if you're viewing on a computer monitor or HDTV only by retaining the original file size.
If you're viewing on a smart phone, don't worry about higher resolution as you won't see a difference on those small screens.
And there's 72 images with larger than 15 MB size files, with the biggest (NBC-TV SHOW) topping out at 43.6 MB! I tried the lower resolution scans too, but they just didn't cut it for the results I would be satisfied with.

He was SO right, and his book came out in like 5 different colored covers to help get us ready!
