Everyone willing the ball to go in

what could warm you up and make you look forward to the next day more than a baseball field and a beautiful sunset ? Even if it is in the middle of winter!

MetroCard ... maybe with a new Governor, the MTA can improve greatly. Here's a reminder of an earlier time of optimism, when I found this card on the ground and it had money left on it!

But later, it didn't (I had to push things).

Soggy day (and a few more in the forecast)...as a tropical wave heads in our direction. The plants are loving the soaking raindrops and the temperatures have mercifully decreased. Of course, the flip side is the high(er) humidity and gloomy skies...but, let's stick with the positive! :) Everyday we encounter situations that require the 'half-full/half-empty' approach - how do you usually view life's events? Finding the silver lining often leads to increased good health, even when it is learned optimism! That adds extra value to the perception of 'half-full"! Keep smiling (even if there's a touch of 'reality")! Naples, FL

Becky was optimistic as she went to pick her country in this summer's football World Cup sweepstake. Then she realised she'd drawn Germany.

Even the hardiest nicotine junkie would surely settle for the warmth inside. An icy south promenade, Bridlington.
