"Playing around a photo booth"
I'm no expert in MacOS X, but it doesn't take me long to figure things out for the few clients that have asked me to setup Apple systems.
I work with Linux, Windows, and Apple machines, with Windows being the majority. I personally have used Windows and Ubuntu along side each other, and even have my brother's laptop sporting Ubuntu for his everyday needs.
That being said, after using and loading applications for all three OSes... we'll it comes down to what you are used to.
I personally use a lot of open source programs on my main Windows 7 rig, so finding MacOS and Linux ports isn't hard.
What ever it is, if it works for you use it. Though I must say that Apple's Photo Booth is rather neat. However, I'm not paying a premium for Intel hardware in a fancy designed package.
