Hundreds of people have gathered at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise on the first official day of autumn.

 

About 250 druids, pagans and visitors were given access to the stones to mark the autumn equinox for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Terracotta Women artwork by an unknown Mycenaean artist during the Late Helladic period from ca 1400 to 1300 B.C in Southern Europe. These figures are made of terracotta with a height of 4 and 1/8 inches. These figures contain straight and curvy patterns with circular parts. These figures show an appreciation towards women of all shapes. These are from the Metropolitan Museum in Manhattan, New York donated by the Fletcher Fund in 1935 in gallery 151. On June 20, 2013 The White House recognized Champions of Change in Open Science.

 

A reception was hosted by the Mozilla Science Lab in the Indian Treaty Room, which had originally served as the Navy's library. Although in later years, such treaties as the United Nations Charter have been signed here and the room hosts all manner of receptions, the naval influence remains. "Si vis pacem, para bellum" means, roughly "If you want peace, prepare for war."

On August 19, EIFL-PLIP manager Ramune Petuchovaite (left) presented an EIFL-PLIP Innovation Award to Mr Chin Kaji Shrestha of READ Information and Resource Centre (RIRC).

 

RIRC was the Asia winner of the EIFL-PLIP Innovation Award for libraries using ICT to empower women and girls. The presentation took place during the International Federation of Library Associations World Library and Information Congress (IFLA WLIC) 2013 in Singapore.
