Captured for Macro Mondays theme: watch. HMM everyone!

The Songa Opal looked like she was outbound but the information I found indicated that she was heading for the Port of Melbourne.

A few very small pieces of rough opal , still with some natural bits of rock still attached from where they were dug from the ground . They are quite opaque but get the light right and the colours glow from within - reds , blues , greens and yellows all come shining through .

Ethiopian opals are a variety of precious opal known for their vibrant and dynamic play of colors. These natural gemstones can range from white to black, and sometimes even display a rainbow of colors. What makes Ethiopian opals unique is their honeycomb welo pattern and high water content, contributing to their captivating play of color. Unlike most opals, which are sedimentary, Ethiopian opals are hydrophane opals formed as a result of volcanic activity.

Dieser Geysir hat eine Temperatur von 132 °C und gehört zu den Fontänen Geysiren. Zu finden ist er im Yellowstone National Park in Amerika

when i was 3 yrs old i remember having a heart shaped necklace and i swore it was a gemstone which i can now identify as a black fire opal, but when going through my jewelry box at age 13 i realized it was actually made of glazed clay. black fire opal is still my favorite gemstone though. anyway, this isn't actually black fire opal either, this is a bunch of layers of flower pictures overlaid using varying blend modes, but it definitely looks like one. my intuition is telling me the blending method i used may have some relation to the physical composition of black fire opals.

💜 thanx to Torsten

An opal on a train?

Plus my NSW Seniors/Pensioners Public Transport Ticket which is called an Opal Card. As Seniors we can travel all day on Public Transport for $2.50. We use it once a week to make the 2hour train trip from our home in the Blue Mountains to Sydney to look after Grandchildren.

Just seemed appropriate, but I had a bit of a search to find that opal :) HSoS :)

There are two broad classes of opal: precious and common. Precious opal displays play-of-color, common opal does not.Play-of-color is defined as "a pseudochromatic optical effect resulting in flashes of colored light from certain minerals, as they are turned in white light. The internal structure of precious opal causes it to diffract light, resulting in play-of-color. Depending on the conditions in which it formed, opal may be transparent, translucent or opaque and the background color may be white, black or nearly any color of the visual spectrum. Black opal is considered to be the rarest, whereas white, gray and green are the most common. In addition, opal may exhibit adularescence, a form of iridescence.

Yup I'm going with it....I'll be posting quite a few photos from this day at my sisters. This is another one of my daughter Opal playing in my sisters back yard.

Hyundai Merchant Marnie Opal with a large block of reefers near the bow of the ship continues to load up at Pier 400, as the summer sun sets on Reservation Point. Once near full the Garnet Class ship will slow steam up the California Coast to the Port of Oakland, where it will pick up the remainder of it's Asian bound cargo at TraPac Terminal in The Bay.

This opal-like image is actually a once inch strip of the white paintwork on my car! To the naked eye, it is just white with a hint of metallic fleck in it, but this deliberately slightly out of focus macro - with the help of some Slider Sunday goodness - shows it to be very colourful!

For Macro Monday's trinkets theme. I'm not sure if this is a real opal or not but it's pretty and was rescued from being thrown out when an elderly relatives house was being cleared after her death.
