I spent two days while staying in Eureka touring Trinidad and Arcata with my brother, a longtime Humboldt County resident, as my guide.
This photo was taken while hiking the trails above Trinidad State Beach. I've attempted to replicate the play of light and shadow in the HDR processing, using different processes on 8 layers in Photoshop 2022. There is also a slight vignette only with dark green instead of black, and then I've dialed the opacity to it just darkens the edge of the "circle".
Additional color and "drama" have been provided with a base layer using Aurora HDR, then layering two separate Photomatix Pro processing layers on top at 10% for Optimizer and 34% for Detail Enhancer.
This is a natural "trompe l oeil" image. The foliage seemed to be like a tunnel through the brush along the path, but it was an optical illusion created by trims on different bushes. As one walked into the "circle" it completely disappeared.

Having a little bit of Photoshop fun. I used the motion blur filter on a duplicate layer, then reduced the opacity to my liking to bring back some detail. Then I masked the effect of the path. Then I used one of the LUTs for the colors. This picture was taken near Chicago in March, so the trees had no leaves on them.
