Bernard's Acre

I was obviously much too heavy for this little horse ….. that was the reason it threw me off. Fortunately I had a soft landing ...

This week's Smile on Saturday group theme is "Vases and Flower Pots." So I got out my camera and gathered up a few vases from around the house and put them on a table for photographing. But when I turned around, my camera lens happened to accidentally catch the neck of my wife's favorite crystal vase. And um...well, you know...let's just say that things didn't end well.

Thanks to Arnaud Steckle on Unsplash for the background wall. And I should mention too that, in reality, no vases were harmed during the making of this photo. :-)

There are no matches for “scrubwren” in your photos, says Flickr.

So there is one now: White-browed Scrubwren. Alas, no white brows on this one. Duskier face? Possibly a juvenile.

The House Finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) was introduced into the eastern United States from the western part of the continent, but it is a beautifully colored bird with a cheerful song, so I can't say that I resent it.

This one was feeding from sunflower seed heads, and looks as if it just realized a big mistake.

I had a wonderful day in Bournemouth with CaptiveLight photographing an array of critters including this Red Eyed Tree Frog. This has to be my favourite though, just look at those feet. Thanks to Miles & Rihanna for making the morning go so smoothly and Lillian for organising this special treat.
