Common Darter landing on his favourite perch only to find the Broad bodied Chaser had got there first.
This is what us photographers like to refer to in the business as the point of no return. A decision has been made. There is no maybe at this point. Commitment is 100%. Consequences will follow very shortly. As the jumper ponders the calls from below he suddenly and apprehensively questions in his mind in those split seconds after his feet leave the ground ".. did they just yell "jump" or did they all just shout "don't jump".

Buongiorno! '

I was uploading some old pictures of mine from the early 80's and accidentally didn't select private.
I was in the Coast Guard at the time. Our ship had just completed NATO exercises in the North Atlantic and we spent a couple of weeks going to various ports. Had two days off at each port. One third of the crew had to be onboard while in port in case of fire or other emergencies. Went to London, Edinburgh, A Coruña Spain, Hamburg and West Berlin Germany, and Paris. Actually went to Europe twice on two different NATO exercises. Also went on an Arctic trip on the Polar Star icebreaker. But most of my time in the Coast Guard was spent in the Caribbean and NYC since our home port was Governors Island.
About the picture, the Louvre was amazing, but honestly I was a bit underwhelmed by the Mona Lisa, kinda small and set back behind glass. Notice the object many of the people are holding to their ear. It was for people to hear about the various paintings quietly so as to keep the museum's atmosphere quiet and perhaps reverent. So many people going through and guides talking to crowds things could have gotten very loud otherwise.
I wonder how the do it today?
A Black Squirrel accidentally looses it's walnut . Just seconds before this he was eating the walnut, but I guess he got nervous with me pointing my lens at him !I hope he found the walnut on the ground after I left him.
It is the Black Squirrels in this town that carry that special gene to produce white squirrel babies. Thanks to that special gene , there is a population of over 50 of these rare White Squirrels.
