I never thought I'd be 'that guy'. You know the one I am talking about, that middle aged dude mooning over life back when.... Yet, here I sit. I'm a middle aged middle man, with a career of middling success teaching other middle men and mystified as to where all that time went. 50 years feels like 50 minutes. Despite my career melancholy I have many blessing in my life and given a chance to do it all over again I don't think I'd change a single moment.

Every now and then I stumble across something that makes me smile. The connection between the subject and the memory is not always direct, but somehow the subject sparks a memory. Gas at 30 cents per gallon brought me back to one of my favorite times. It wasn't the cheap gas that I recall as much as the freedom. I have never been much of a planner, preferring to wander about, these days demands of life require a certain level of planning. Back in my cheap gas days, I had few if any demands and it seems the only planning I had to do was how to earn a fin for a tank of gas. Pretty easy. A full tank and an open road to wander down. Beat that.

My only bus T-shirt, made for me by my daughter a few years ago, it is only a small motif of a Routemaster positioned low on the right handside of the shirt.

first he loved my accent

how his knees could bend

i thought we'd be ok

but i feel someting is wrong

but i feel this cake just isn't done

don't say that, you don't

and if you could see me now

said if you could see me now

girls you've got to know

when it's time to turn the page

when you're only wet

because of the rain

he don't show much these days

it gets so fucking cold

i loved his secret places

but i can't go anymore

"you change like sugar cane"

when pianos try to be guitars

i feel the west in you

and i feel it falling apart too

don't say that, you don't

and if you could see me now

said if you could see me now

girls you've got to know

when it's time to turn the page

when you're only wet

because of the rain

when you're only wet

because of the rain

I can tell you now, the old bridge that once stood here would've been much more 'photo worthy'.

Only a very few survived the Great War – they headed towards places that had no value or valuables and were therefore not interesting to fight over. Here, a group of older Gen-Z have settled – they don’t know each other and know very little about life in the countryside – no internet, radio, TV, shops – everything is different and difficult. But they may still have hope for love.

ONLY ONE BUILT. C/n NA1/95 built in 1919. In Landskrona Museum, Sweden 14. June 2014. It is a shame that this unique aircraft is displayed along with bottles and other things with no connection to aviation.

I've seen only two damselflies this year (both of which zipped off at 100mph before I even got near them), until yesterday when I visited the RSPB reserve in Lochwinnoch, where there were many. However, the ones yesterday were also speedy damselflies, and I didn't get close to many. This poor one was flying around, but it seemed to have a problem with its abdomen (it was bent at a funny angle), which is probably why I managed to get a couple of photos---I didn't bother it for long though, as I was sure it would rather have flown off, but maybe wasn't feeling great.

Driving from Kigoma Town up to Kigoma Kaskazini, all the way up to the border to Burundi, a short stretch of hillside rocks still bear the signs of last year’s campaigning before the elections on October 31.

Zitto Kabwe’s, MP for Kigoma Kaskazini, supporters tagged his name (European urban style) all over the hillside rocks. Repeatedly and permanently.

Impossible to wash off, and too big a job to cover. So, in between there are counter-statements to be found supposedly from people who disagree. And then again new counter-statements.

One of my personal interests - how people express themselves in public space combined with acitvism - and Zitto's campaigning in particular I have previously blogged about here: pernille.typepad.com/afterafrica/2010/09/last-year-i-went...

This is the only way to fly. Or, honestly, the only way I can fly. I'm not the best of fliers - I get really nervous on takeoffs and landings. I've been known to hyperventilate during them. Or cut off the circulation in Dani's hand. Just ask her about the landing from Paris to Heathrow, when we had to abort the landing and try again. Once I'm in the air, I'm okay, but getting there, not so much. Once we level off, though, I generally am asking for a beer.

Only minor adjustments were made in Photoshop. The rest is from the pattern created by the scarf draped across her face.

Only one in my garden, but one is enough ...

We spent the day getting ready and only a few scant minutes under the ice. The weather cooperated by at least not raining. The ice was on its last legs, but it held for the day. Sadly, there was not much to see, but fun none the less.

Believe it or not, this Darling little boy has been rejected by his Mother and is being raised by humans. His name is Zaiden and he is a pure bred Friesian. As soon as he stood up right after birth, his Mother began biting and kicking at him ---- it was obvious to the owners (professional horse breeders) that this was a rare case of total rejection.

But not to worry, a wonderful young lady named Gabby has stepped in to help him adjust to his new life. It was so obvious that the affection between them was genuine. (Pic below) What an experience.

There were 3 young foals (all male) outside today --- and 6? more expected any day now.

Found this is at the U of Washington Bookstore. They also had Bush playing cards, slanted to the right...

Raising a cat requires that you provide not only for its most basic needs, such as food and a clean litter box, but also for its health, its comfort, and its mind.

If you are interested in raising a cat, take the time to understand the commitment you are making and learn how to raise it right. If you do this, you are more likely to end up with a well-adjusted, happy, and healthy cat.

Am I the only one who goes from one extreme to another ? One day everything is hunky dory and then the very next day it has gone to crapola. I have been wanting to get out and photograph this particular place but the weather just has not contributed to it. So after moping around I decided to try my luck at the one big online dating firm that starts with an E. I have used other s but I am tired of dating vampires, ex-hookers, and crazy women out on a weekend pass.

So I thought what the heck, I can take the test and find my perfect match. So after taking the test for over 2 hours ( no one tells you about that do they ?), answering all the questions and trying to be honest, I got ready to see who my perfect matches were. Well guess what, I am the 1 percent that they can't match. Now figure that one out. So it seems I am so different that there is no one out there for me. How is that to cap off a day!

Oh well, maybe I will see what my ex-girlfriend the Vampire is doing tonight!

The only shot I took on the sound and light show at the Gobindgarh Fort. It was absorbing to say the least, and when I raised my camera again, an army jawan tapped me on the shoulder and told me that photography was not allowed. Oh well, I at least got one shot! This sound and light show is called Whispering Walls - Kanda Boldiyan Ne. This is a sound and light show using state of the art projection and mapping technologies and laser lights. Some tourist sites claim that a show of this quality has never before been seen pan India and we can certainly state that it will surely take your breath away. This show is held every evening post sunset. There is a Punjabi as well as an English show each day. Well, the show was indeed something,

and this is the English version. (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)

Need I say more??

Seen in the Bamboo Labyrinth, a maze at the Alnwick Garden, Alnwick, Northumberland, UK, which was created 10 years ago by the Duchess of Northumberland at Alnwick Castle, and is not far from where I live. It is still a work in progress, although already stunning, and is very family friendly.
