Not only did we arrive Great Sand Dunes National Park a bit late and lost most of the golden light on the dunes, I believe we also came at the wrong time of day.
Judging by the dunes' orientation (facing east) and the trek marks left by the day activities (hiking, sandboarding, sand sledding), early morning hours would be a much better time for photography in here!
Nevertheless, I'm happy with the few images that I got, for they are much better than the ones I took from the first visit (early afternoon, Sep 2019)! 😉
I will share a funny encounter with you in my next Great Sand Dunes photo at a later time, so please make sure you follow my journey!

Some of the slum areas do not even have single rooms, they are thick and untidy clusters of small roofed walls – ceilings of which are made of scraps of wood, used sacks, metal, or some sort of waste material. You see 10 to 12 people live, eat and sleep under the same roof. The children often play in places where the drains are used as open toilets
I only have 2 of these shots left..:) And, with the weather like it is, I may have to wait a while.
I knew the cold was coming so I stayed in town at an AbAb so I wouldn't have to drive in from the hill country. Good thing too. I had to get off the freeway because my defrosters couldn't keep the ice off the windshield. I drive a convertible, so the inside never got really warm either.It got to 21 with a wind chill of 14. My face was burning from the short time I was exposed. I don't see how you cold winter people do it every year.
Phaethornis eurynome - Only large hermit hummingbird in its range with black feathers on the throat giving it a scaled appearance. The bill is slightly curved. The back is olive-green and it has a strong mask. The tail is long and white-tipped. Similar to Dusky-throated Hermit, but Scale-throated Hermit is bigger with a longer tail. Found in the understory of humid and montane forests.

The only blossoming color, almost like the very low Autumnal Sun, in the Océ-weerd now is bright Senecio inaequidens, Narrow-leaved Ragwort. It's been growing in these parts so long I suppose you could call it naturalised. Originally it hails from the southern regions of Africa and moved to the north by merchant shipping first to Calais and Verviers. Soon down from France and Belgium to The Netherlands and here in Limburg along the Meuse River.
I reduced due to health....
No sugar, no sweets
No alcohol (almost since the beginning of the year)
No 'easy' carbs, only vegetables and for example lentils, peas, chickpeas, beans and protein (no bread, no pasta, no rice)
No coffee, except once a week...
No sausages, or highly processed foods
Well, it's not 'funny' but it's ok... 😉
