The Third Trim Braveheart Trail Race was staged over a five kilometre course on Friday 15th June 2012 at 8pm. The event was staged along the banks of the Boyne and took in many of the medieval sites of the town through the Porchfields. It formed a part of the Scurlogstown Olympiad Haymaking Festival which attracts thousands of visitors to Meath every year. The rainy weather of the past few weeks just about held off for the race itself. However, the constant rain of the past few days made it more like a cross-country race than a mid-summer's trail race. The River Boyne was almost ready to flood it's bank along the route.
This was a superb event organised by Trim AC with a record crowd of over 500 people taking part. The race finished at the historic Yellow Steeple. Everyone at Trim AC should take a bow on the organisation in such tricky weather conditions.
The tricky weather conditions made photography a real challenge. Unfortunately, we had a lot of blurry snaps. So the set here represents the best shots available to us.
This is a collection of photographs taken by Peter Mooney and family.
