(June 2007) The steep hill leading down to the 'Via Verde' ; an old railway track linking Olvera to Puerto Serrano, some 35km to the west. The track provides beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and is perfect for walkers and bike-riders. Olvera is a typical "pueblo blanco" (white village) situated in the north-eastern corner of the Cadiz province in Andalucia. Le botteghe e bancarelle lungo Olvera vendono vestiti tipici messicani, sandali di cuoio, animali di paglia e churros, un tipo di pane fritto, insieme ai nuovi suvenirs tipo le maschere della lotta messicana e il nostro Topo Gigio. Durante i molti festival, nell'El Pueblo si scsatenano suoni e colori, come nella processione con le candele di Las Posadas, che viene seguita sempre con grande partecipazione. .

By the end of April 2010, the City of Los Angeles’ El Pueblo Management plans to increase the rents to the on Olvera Street, which will eventually result in the EVICTION of generations of Merchant families from Olvera Street.

Out in the mid-day heat, I came up behind a horse trotting along the path, no rider. As I cycled past it, it increased to a canter to keep up with me, which seemed odd.
Later on I entered a tunnel and discovered about 12 other horses keeping out of the heat, including both mares and stallions, a couple of foals and a donkey.
